Is Max Payne the unluckiest lucky character in video game existence? By this I mean: Keeps surviving really shitty situations where people shouldn't survive.
>>334775214
Max had a hard life
>>334775214
He did not request for it
>>334776005
Are Max and Adam the leaders of the vidya JUSTice League?
Max Payne v Kazuma Kiryu
Who would win in a drinking contest
>>334776246
Max for sure. Kiryu drinks a lot less, at least depicted in the games. Kiryu seems a lot more in control considering the light nature of his games.
>>334776246
I think Kiryu has a better functioning liver just because he doesn't compliment all that booze with a metric ton of pain pills.
>>334776005
Are they going home from work or does Malik dress like that on her days off?
>>334776374
Yakuza 0 release date when?
Nathan Drake had gone through some insane shit.
Not the same kind of mental/emotional trauma, but he's survived plenty of situations he definitely shouldn't have.
>GTA V didn't keep the same shooting mechanics as Max Payne 3 (minus slow-mo)
>They could have as evident by the Trevor on the wing of the aeroplane mission
>Could have combined it with an improved version of Euphoria seen in Red Dead
>MFW stuck with a shit shooting system in an otherwise great game
>>334777360
Hopefully they use it in Red Dead 2
>>334777592
you mean red dead 3 ? chuckhead fucker
>>334777659
everyone forgets or doesnt know, but i agree with his sentiment.
>>334777659
You're right. I always forget that Revolver exists just like everyone else.
>>334775214
I assume he was named Max Payne because by surviving he feels maximum pain.

Can you guys Photo shop this picture of my friend like to look like The Joker from the dark knight
i only made the mouth part
>>334775214
Max Payne and Raziel are drinking buddies.
>>334779000
health played tears recently at coachella
>>334775214
well he CAN slow time after all
>>334779237
Health only has like 4-5 good songs including Tears so what the fuck else would they play?
Am I the only one who wants another MP game? I mean the story surely won't go anywhere anymore (but I need more of that that slick gunplay.
Maybe another MC instead of Max?
>tfw hole in your second favorite drinking arm
>>334775214
Valkyr is probably still pumping through his veins to this day. How else was he able to maintain his reaction time after all the abuse. Hell, I'd argue to say that his bullettime is at its absolute best in the last game.
>>334779749
Why would you have to ask that question? Max Payne is universally loved;
>>334777816
Guess what?Same voice.
>>334778736
Fucking this.
>tricked into killig his family
>get's his memories about the event wiped for a period of time
>Athena turns him into the new God of War
>Zeus puts him down for being the God of War
>has climbed back from Hades like 3 times
>wasn't actually the marked brother
>brother dies in buttfuck wherever because Kratos ditched him
>kills Athena
>Athenas ghost comes back to haunt him
>everyone that ever helped him died
>kill the greek myth
>kills himself
Max Payne killed his family while high on the drug Valkyr
>>334780438
Forgot kills spartan bro by total mistake.
>>334780613
I knew somethinglike that happened to him, haven't gotten around to play the HD PSP ports
All of MGS4 was Snake being old and cranky, I really felt bad for him being unable to even enjoy smoking
>Max Payne 3 was 4 years ago
Still one of the best third person shooters I've played.
>>334781667
>one of the best
>not the best
anon pls
>>334781805
Not that anon, but it would be the best if it actually made sense and let me PLAY
>>334781805
gameplay wise, cannot be topped. literally perfection, fun to replay any day of the week
content wise it could be better, although the areas are insanely diverse, some of them are forgettable, and the story albeit good, isn't the most spectacular gamemy favorite TPS is Uncharted 2 :^)
>>334780263
>First girlfriend dies
>Second girlfriend cucks him
>>334781975
I thoroughly enjoyed Uncharted 2 as well. It was linear sure, but it was an Indiana Jones inspired roller coaster that kept me entertained all the way through. Shame about UC3 though.
Here's hoping UC4 is good. The gunplay was pretty solid in the multiplayer beta. Nothing compared to Max Payne 3 but still very enjoyable.
>>334782030
>Had it experience the events of Dead Space 3
My condolences
>>334782279
>Shame about UC3 though
this so much. The MP beta was actually so much fun but the extra weapons and gameplay changes just fucking messed it up
>>334782279
Uncharted 2 was perfectly paced, and every chapter and setpiece is excellent. I think I've replayed Urban Warfare around 20 times as well as the Train chapter
>>334782507
The powerplays that gave the losing team an advantage was too much and too frequent. The recoil for weapons is much stronger than it was in UC2 which was a bit irritating.
Thankfully that wasn't the case in the UC4 beta which was a return to UC2's gunplay with slight improvements.
>>334783212
>the fucking rope movement
dude I don't need a PS4 but holy shit that beta looked good
Not really. The storylet just makes better use of the narrative. And narration.
In singleplayer vidya instances, you're almost always a one-man army.
By the parameters you've applied - even the likes of Rayman fit the bill.
>>334783493
It's not perfect but the weapons having straps was a nice touch.

Serious question, what does actually happen if you mix pain killers and alcohol?
>>334786383
Enhanced effect for both items. Both are depressants and will stack together.
Personally, Percocet doesn't do shit for me unless I take it with booze, but everyone is different
>>334781880
Fuck off. Even without the cutscenes, the game is pretty long. Lots of content.
This isn't even counting the fact that the cutscenes are generally very entertaining and well-acted.
>go through a rough period in my life
>play MP3
>Max's "new start" when he shaves his head impacted me so much i decided to shave my head and change my choice in clothing
>turns out i had an appealing skull underneath the shitty hair
>hit the gym
>almost looked exactly like max after 6 months of intensive training
And they say video games are not art. This game influenced me more than any book or movie I'd read or seen. It also helped me crawl out of depression.
I'm not ashamed to say this game probably saved my life, and Im pretty sure Im not exaggerating.
https://youtu.be/EskJZmaYL10
I had this playing almost on repeat for most of my transition. It didn't depress me. It didn't throw me in a melancholic mood. It motivated and invigorated me to continue down the new path I had chosen.
I know I'll probably be laughed out of this thread but whatever. I carry my own truth with me. This game represents the turning point of me becoming a better man that I was.
>>334786648
Pretty much this.
The gunplay alone can keep me occupied for hours but it's nice to have a cutscene to offer a moment of respite. I can get a drink, use the bathroom, or just rest my fingers off the controller.
>>334787279
Godspeed anon. The world is a pretty fucked up place but it's nice to know there are some people out there trying to be a better person.
>>334782279
You say Uncharted 2 being linear as if it was a bad thing. Max Payne 3 is just as linear dude.
>>334775214
How is this game on PC? Felt like utter shit on PS3
>>334788045
nicely optimized.
was able to play it at 60fps at 1440p with a 5850. med-high settings.
just loading time is super fucking ass.
>>334787850
To be fair the game jumps around over the course of like a year so Max is going to change his outfit a lot.
But it was cool as fuck to see Batman's suit get more worn out over the course of the game which are always in one night.
>>334787919
Linear is usually considered a bad thing, I wanted to address it to offer a somewhat balanced view. As much as I like a game, I still need to consider some factors that others might not like.
>>334777360
the game would take 10 years to load if it did
fuck man i miss max payne. the fact that you could perform some bad ass slowmo dive where you kill 6 guys with one shot and then promptly face plant into the side of desk was just so cool.
>>334777360
GTA V doesn't even allow you to switch shoulders with the camera, alsoNo duel wield
>>334789130
>no one handed mode
>>334789130
>>334789372
>this just reminded me how you off handed the long gun when using a pistol
Holy shit reinstalling right now
>that filesize
I DONT CARE
>>334781805
It would be a better tps game if the game actually let you play it instead of just sitting you down to watch some shitty movies.
>>334789130
>GTA V doesn't even allow you to switch shoulders with the camera, also
Max Payne 1 didn't let you switch shoulders with the camera. Because the camera wasn't behind a shoulder, it was behind the character. You are looking straight forward, you are shooting straight forward, therefore camera is pointing straight forward. I have yet to hear a sensical argument for why a third person game should have an over the shoulder camera.
>>334775214
Why the sudden change of heart /v/? a year ago I swear everyone on this site hated 3. I just got bombarded by MP2 loyalists every time I posted.
>>334790227
The shoulder switch only effects Max Payne 3 when you use iron sights for targets in the distance. MP3's camera for running and gunning is pulled back, not nearly as far as the previous games but enough.
The over the shoulder camera in general is used due to the popularity of its use in Resident Evil 4. The close proximity of the camera is a double edged sword as it limits visibility and situational awareness but provides the player with an advantage when it comes to precision, plusmuh immersionIn RE4's case, you have no choice, you must use the over the shoulder camera to fire your weapon at all. GTA V has this as well, the difference is that there is a run and gun system but it's a clumsy one. You have to hold the trigger halfway enough to bring up the crosshair but not too much that the character will default to the shoulder cam.
max is just the punisher except an alcoholic
>>334790887
I actually just got around to playing this last week.
The story was hot garbage, and the gunplay was worse than the originals. Really no reason to ever play this game.
>>334791090
I have to go to work and now I feel down.
>>334790887
It might not be a change of heart. It's all about timing. Personally, I love the series as a whole. Sure I can compare and contrast the things I liked/disliked in each game all day but really, it's a series I can come back to without being disappointed in an entry.
>>334791090
Nice b8, m8.
MP3 was literally the best TPS ever made from a purely gameplay standpoint
Man, I really liked taking screenshots on this game.
>>334791464
>>334791393
I've heard good things about Vanquish but I never got around to playing it. I'm not really into futuristic stuff.
Dragon Quest 5's hero had an astoundingly shit life, but he did get a happy ending so I suppose he's better off than a lot of the poor saps mentioned in this thread.
>>334791556
>>334791464
After multiple playthroughs, it becomes a personal goal to make each level not only a flawless run but also a run that would make Hollywood eat its heart out.
It becomes an impulse to pause or slow down the bullet cams.
>>334791393
>MP3 was literally the best TPS ever made from a purely gameplay standpoint
Rockstar pls go
>>334775214
>get stuck in some soviet shithole full of mutated abominations out to kill you
>accidentally go back in time and alter the course of history causing the soviets to win the cold war and take over the entire world
>go through hell and back to try and fix what you screwed up
>reward ends up being you find out everything is ruined forever and going back in time again will just make everything worse
Ranko had a hard life.
Dammit /v/ it's almost 4am. As much as I'd like to play MP3, I know my reaction time is going to be shit. I need sleep, pretty educational thread though.
