Hey /v/, want to read my blog? Okay. I think you'll enjoy it. I promise it's vidya related. I'll keep it short, too.
I'm cleaning up my childhood house and in a box I found a dusty anti-static bag with parts of my first ever PC. I thought I would put it together for shits and giggles, and after some rigging lo and behold, it actually fucking worked.
This is just after configuring the hard drive. If you have never faced the horror of having a hard drive and not knowing its Cylinders / Head / Sectors config, you don't know what life is.

Top view.
HD is resting on a 5.25" floppy drive, but I couldn't find a data cable for that one.
Notice a spare slot for an arithmetic co-processor. Also the HD/FD controller is an expansion card.
8 x 1MB memory modules gives a sexy 8MB of RAM. Actually it only counts up to 7808 KB during POST, can't tell if that's by design or if one of the chips is bust.

I chuckled when I realized I've been AMD MASTER RACE my whole PC life.
Also fuck yeah air cooled CPU.
>>334751273
Found a 3.5" floppy drive too. There was a technical issue, but thankfully they made them stronger back then and a minute of plier-work later I was back on track.
Shouldn't this be on /g/?
>>334751539
I installed some essentials from the stack of floppies I had around.
Cutting out the bullshit that /v/ wouldn't care about, check out those mad specs.
It's DOS 7.10 because there is a broken install of Windows 95 on the hard drive. I wanted to reinstall 6.22, but disk 1/3 was faulty.
>>334751604
I'll post it there later too, but this is short version just for /v/'s interest. It has vidya in it, so sit tight.
>>334752167
The real fun is only about to start.
>>334751604
/g/ is a shithole.
Full of Linux fags ricing everything to the brink of "heres my desktop"
>shows OS window
>has a nice background
and thats literally it.
they fucking jerk circle over that shit too.
~but muh specs, and if its not Linux and you have a single file on your desktop... "clean it up retard"
>>334752418
>>334752167
I don't really care. I only visited there a few times. I just don't want your thread to be deleted due to not vidya.Though half the threads on v aren't vidya.
>>334752409
Just a little essential setting up to do. I couldn't find a serial mouse so I had to do with what I had.
>>334752586
It's cool, I'm really just doing it for fun. Thought I'd give the board some OC to balance out muh opinions and shitposting.
>>334752586its not my thread
Yeah, I guess you are right anyway.
Theres better things mods need to worry about to be completely honest senpai
>>334752803
Are you fucking ready?
Oh and a propos Network Game, playing the 3-monitor panoramic setup Doom beats the shit out of current VR shit in terms of fun and satisfaction. If you remember then you know.
>>334753163
This screen always brought a smile to my face.
>>334753395
oh fug. You're doomed, mate.
>>334753395
OH FUCK YES
>>334753694
This is what Doom Open Beta should have been.
>>334753961
I took my time sightseeing.
I thought I was fucking up the lift secret, but I forgot it wasn't there yet in 1.1, kek.
>>334753629
It's okay. I paid for it multiple times since then.
bumps
get a trip so I can filter you
>>334754216
And I called it a day after that.
Uh, thanks for reading I suppose. Maybe I should have put Doom in the OP.
>>334754557
Okay, but you first.
Just gonna bump it with some vidya tits before going to sleep.
Let me bump it again
>>334753163
This just triggered me. Setting IRQ and the other thing in the sound settings for every game, for some reason, is something that always traumatised me. Probably because when I was a kid I had trouble memorising them and got them wrong often, having to quit and retry until I got the sound working.
>>334758593
kek, I hear you. I did have them memorized or just written down I think though. 220,5,1,5 whatever.
I have an ISA bus sound card (Gravis UltraSound actually) for it, I may give it a try tomorrow.
