People say you cant do anything but there are so many possibilities with this game.
We need to support devs like this, innovative and anti corporate machine.
I preorded the limited edition on ps4

They didn't "bail them out" they helped fund development, money has to come from somewhere.
Hello games is an independent company, remember like what dice was like before EA took them over.
Shaun Murray and a few others started the company because they were sick of the way game development is handled by major companies.
Games made with passion rather than monetary motives are the games I enjoy supporting.

Of course I know what dos is anon, though I have never gamed on it to my knowledge, idk what software spectrum, commodore, atari or amiga was.

I do feel with this game maybe the flight simulation wont be so much of a simulation rather than an arcade feel, something better but like flying in that shitty new star wars game.
The way I am viewing no mans sky is that it is an exploration and resource collection/trade simulator.

There is obviously a purpose, collect and trade to better your ability to explore further. Getting to the centre of the galaxy is the objective. Idk what is there or why you need to get there, or how the game directs you there.
I do know that the need to explore solar systems for new resources to build equipment and learning alien languages so you can obtain better gear to explore further is the gameplay of nms.
If that is all you do that is the game for you.
For me I will do that but I will enjoy the journey and finding new things, the sigts and experiences along the way.
Pretty sure I will be playing this game for years to come. Just pick it up and explore

To be simple
>bood DOS
>with command lines go to the game directory jumping 1 by 1
>reach the game and put run setup.exe
>configure the soundcard (i had an awe64)
>220 5 1 5 620 330 (those are the config numbers, after all this years i still remember them)
>test the soundcard to hear a blaster sound
>save and exit setup
>back to DOS
>run tie.exe
>game starts
>and then you go to play and shit
You had to do this every single time
Now look how kids and retads are having a hard time seting up shit to work outside of the box, like the rift or a vive.

It was a pretty complex times, even an APACHE (chopper) game has to bood instead of DOS, that idead was never saw before, it literally took your computer and make it a good sim for its era.

About the physics, its like carmageddon 1 and 2, for other games to catch up to carma 1 physics they took several years, and for carma 2 i needed to wait for the first dirt rally to see the same level of crash details, but of course, with better graphics.
After playing space engineers with thrusters mod to actually work like they shoud, i cant stand any other space flighting game because of that.
IF... some kind soul mods the game and adds better physics, i might be intrested, they even put realistic physics on shit like need for speed, so who knows, but that little detail is the "i wont touch it" because dogfights will be pretty linerar, even worse, after the AI of ace combat on ace it will be piss easy to kill shit.
Pic is what i do in spengines.

Nope. The game is also single player, but it never sold the idea of it being a multiplayer experience at all.

>is a single player rogue like
>has procedural generation elements
>where it generates new systems on every run
>there is permanent death in your runs
>you only retain blueprints and any credits gained, while any collected resources are lost
>rogue-like gameplay
>space-sim
>dem ice fields of Tigrin vibes from TITAN AE

>>334759908

You can trade and buy weapons, upgrade your ship, interact with NPCs to make story choices; but beyond that, no.

It's a single player title that's focused more on gameplay then anything else. Very simple goals, with a fuckton of replayability. Dogfighting is how you will primarily get around the universe. But I believe that you can generally conduct raids, steal blueprints, find blueprints in systems and then collect resources and go upgrade your ship at stations.

Technically, it's possible to get through the game without killing anyone or anything if you play it like a true rogue-like game, by exploring, gathering, buying, and upgrading your way to victory; but that approach would be much much harder than doing it traditionally.

To my understanding, there's nothing to do in this game, except go from planet to planet, make a shelter and try to get to a new planet first to get your name on it.
I was kinda excited about the whole branding a planet as your own and messing with it's ecosystem, but apparently there's killer robots preventing you from doing that.
I guess it's some kind of fantasy version of sandbox universe with slightly more to do, which still isn't much.

One final thing. The game's made in UE4, and uses Nvidia PhysX for a lot of the geometric destructibility, as seen in pic related. You may see adverse performance if you have an AMD card, since PhysX doesn't really run on that--and as a result CPU will be stressed.

The game's expected to have VR support in alpha for the Oculus Rift, and I believe the devs will port the title over to the Vive post launch. So if you have a consumer edition of the Rift, and you buy the alpha, you'll be in for a greater treat than I.

I did. I will pirate GOG No Mans Sky. Then when NMS is on sale for half off I'll throw the devs a bone.
>>
>>334761194

I intend to buy and play that as well.

Hopefully we can get a steam group going for /v/ and Stellaris, since the game has 32 player multiplayer.

A 3 hour session launch day would be real fun. Not going to be so fun if every faggot actually plays as Human Meme Nazis though.

3-way SLI Titan X (got them in a massive sale for half price each) but thanks for the heads up.

Despite my obvious faith in nms, I am actually not a Sci Fi or space sim fan at all.
The ideal universe sandbox for me would have been an action game or war game.
The first sandbox I remember playing was hunter on the amiga and since falling in love with the freedom of a sandbox, I have always dreamt of a universe sandbox
And after 20 years we are finally getting one.
Nms will probably be the biggest game ever created and never be beaten, unless someone just makes one just to beat nms record.

If anything I think people should appreciate what these guys have done

>because I'm not a fucking autistic retard that has to pick arbitrary sides

I feel like you undercut your own point by your own choice of words. Good job sounding like a fucking autistic retard who is arbitrarily picking a fight.

I paid 70 euros to get alpha/beta access + release + the ost, digital art book, and the ability to name an ingame NPC.

I really only did it for the first five items; sixth is kind of a bonus.

So not really?
>>
>>334762978

Nope.

Target system requirements for 60fps likely on medium settings:

A: We are targeting to support systems which have at least:
– OS: 64-Bit Windows 7 Service Pack 1
– Processor: 2 GHz Dual-Core 64-bit CPU
– Memory: 4GB RAM
– Graphics: DirectX10 Compatible GPU with 1 GB Video RAM
– DirectX: Version 10
– Mouse and Keyboard

Some VR systems require 90 FPS(!) on two(!) screens. With that in mind, we will provide a lot of scalability, so you’ll get awesome graphics on powerful systems and will still be able to play at very good frame rates on older systems. You won’t be needing hardware acceleration for physics. However, you will require more advanced hardware in order to use virtual reality devices.

Titan X way overpowered, if the pic in question is your setup; you'll be fine.

A question: can I fight off the magic space police that try to kill you the second you land on a planet? Do they infinitely come at you?
>>
>>334751225
kek, what a blunder
>>
>>334747406
Because I'm going to pirate it, play it for one hour, and then delete it because it would be fucking boring.
>>
>>334765518

It works like GTA. There are drones free-floating around the planet, on pretty much any planet that has life.

If you kill those, bigger bipdel drones show up. Then giant walker show up. Then actual space fighters show up, if you beat those. Then frigates show up, then cruiser show up, eventually you get an entire battlefleet; if you somehow manage to make it all the way to this point using a fighter only.

Because that's the only thing you can ever have, a fighter. No cruiser, no frigate, no battleship; just a dinky little fighter. Wasted opportunity, but there's a lot of that in this game.
>>
>>334762978
No. Like I said, I only have three because of an insane deal. One is more than enough.
>>
>>334765719

Oh wow. Missed an opportunity there to make this like a cool RTS type game.
>>
>>334766154

It's designed to appeal to the hipster gamer crowd. They went out of their way to talk about how much 80s sci-fi book covers inspired this game, and how much like those books their games are like; and then failed to include anything that comes from something like that.
