Build diversity sucks. Even if you want to do a certain build you might be prevented by the linear world as many weapons/spells/armor sets don't come till late.

I never disliked the actual gameplay all that much... I mean, it felt slow and sorta mushy but that's just its pace.
What irritated me about it was that DaS never bothered telling you how anything worked. It never explained how half the shit like bonfires, Estus, etc., WORKED, it plopped you in a wide world with absolutely no direction or guidance, and if you guessed a wrong turn you'd wind up getting slaughtered by an enemy you weren't supposed to fight yet at your level and with your gear. Then you respawn 30 minutes of gameplay back and do it all again...
...and even the most engaging combat encounters lose their charm the 6th time you repeat them because you're still guess-and-checking how shit works.
Did they fix THAT? Or is it still very much a game that tosses you straight into the deep end and says "hope you figure out swimming quick!"?

How do I get into Dark Souls?
I generally like fast paced action games or games that have really precise controls, and Dark Souls feels like its neither and it makes it hard for me to get into. Movement feels too weighty, and I don't like how slow attacking, dodging, etc. is. I like games like KH2, Devil May Cry, and MGR, and this game is far from it. I feel too limited. I can appreciate slower games like Zelda, but even Zelda games don't make it feel like you're moving around wearing a suit of armor (I mean you are wearing a suit of armor in Dark Souls, its just that that doesn't feel very good when moving around), and you have a lot more control over what kind of attack you do in Zelda games. Dark Souls feels much more limited and feels like you have less control. I want to move fast or control every aspect of my attacks, and it won't let me.
Plus sometimes Souls games feel bullshit by putting something you can't see coming in front of you, as if you're supposed to know what's coming before you get there. How do I into Souls games?

DS3 is literally DS1.5, all they had to do was copy DS2 mechanics and get rid of soul memory and agility and this would have been a perfect game. Instead we have some stuff taken from DS1, BB and a very few from DS2. Elemental infusion now does less than normal infusion and can't be buffed, wtf?? if your gonna have scaling elemental infusion from dark souls 2, why use it with the crappy ds1 mechanics? Stun locking is OP without enemy poise, just get a straight sword and mash r1, stuns lock enemy and bosses to death, even worst if you have summons. Can't punish r1 spammers(you can but the risk/reward is not worth it) and estus chuggers. The main let down for me is the lack of build veriety compared to ds2.
And so a new CoD is born.
