Nier literally plays like an oldschool PS2 ARPG, its functional as hell. It only falls short in that it becomes super easy with certain weapons
I fucking loved Nier, but my main complaint with the game is that the world felt so condensed. All the backtracking for the quests and the grinding of the same areas over and over only drove the fact home. I can only hope that Automata is a bit more expansive. The OST is simply sublime, though.

animations were stiff, you were supposed to have 3 types of weapons but in the end you had only ONE, just " abit slower" and "a bit faster", was batshit retarded
the movement imputs were bad and the character darted with no cohistency
enemies were bad designed(and the AI was terrible)and you felt no satisfaction in hitting them, most textures are bland, areas were cut, there is no "journey" when travelling or no sense of it(you are in a plain, one feet, changes area, YOU HAVE TRAVELED FOR WEEKS IN A DESERT).
Objects felt they had no weight at all(as you, jump animation was bad) and combat was dull and repetitive(only one combo, 99% of the enemies had no ractic other than HIT HIT HIT OK NOW EVADE AND ATTACK ANOTHER ONE)
But
But 90% of these flaws were literally from the lack of time square gave the devs.
And nier still stands as one of my fav games of all times, even with all the flaws.

Been wanting to play this for awhile. Watched the concert this morning and have been anticipating the second game since it's reveal. Problems are that I don't currently have a console to play it on (should in a few months) and I've been spoiled of a few things likeEmile dying(?) and the final boss being yourself or something.So, should I wait and play it or go ahead and spoil it during the wait for the second one?

Just because it's your favorite doesn't mean it is also for others, it doesn't mean others would even like it. There's no such thing as a universally good or bad OSTs, it's all down to personal preference. Personally I found the music in it to be highly annoying and had to turn it off. Popola and Devola sing like shit imo and get on my nerves, but that's just me.

Really? I'm the same and I love the game Plated it. It's just so different from the average game and the atmosphere and the OST and even the gameplay are so unique I just fell in love with it. Only real critic I have is combat, wich just requires to git gud.

the only other thing that really bugged me, speaking of Nier, was(spoiler ahead)the big revelation at the end of the first run, revealed by devola and popola...in a simple line of text. I played Gestalt when it came out, got everything including save erasing ending and half way through my first playthrough I had to turn the music off because Popola and Devola's shit singing was getting on my nerves. It was just so repetitive. The combat was uninspired. It was all just gravity kick everything to win. The story was meh. I never felt any connection with any of the characters. I did like the character designs, though. Music was decent, but not a big enough selection. The world felt small too. Only a handful of areas to explore. The story was lacking as well. I really wanted to like it, but I'd have to give it a 2/5.

I honestly loved it. It had variety at the very least. Even the farming that was half assed, ATLEAST it was there. The combat actually got very fun for me when you're able to use two handed swords as well
