Just tell yourself "one more savepoint" and never stop moving and you can do it. The aylium scared the shit out of me and I beat it on hard. Just keep moving towards the objective and let it murder all the humans. Have fun in the android show room and the industrial Joe area and the hive. The hardest part for me was the last "real" room where a you go to open a thing and the power dies and you go all the way back to turn it on and then something else happens and you go all the way back again

That actually the most stressful part of the game, since you don't really have any items except flares (which do help), and you're still learning how the game mechanics still work.

The alien not fucking off to the vents and staying on the floor 95% of the time (unlike the rest of the game) also doesn't help.

He has 2 forms of aggression.

When you hear a little blip on your detector he's passing by in the vents, this is light aggro, and is caused by your activity. He may pop down and look around.

If you make fire, a very loud noise, shoot, or crash a load of shit, especially if he's already in lite aggro, then he enters heavy aggro. And begins to behave like from the medbay. There's a small chance every minute that he'll transfer across the area you're in or leave completely, but its small. If you're remaining perfectly stationary he will scan the tight area around you worse and worse. It is absolutely always best to keep moving, as this increases the ayylmao's chance of transferring and re-entering lite aggro.

My advice to you would be walk literally everywhere. If you couch the ayylmao will get annoyed and come out of the vent to find you. If you run he has to chase you.

Walk confidently and he'll get off your shit most of the time.

If you're a very good sneak, even on nightmare, you can go entire levels without seeing the ayylmao. Its even possible to not aggro it when you "wake up" that android in the storage area to guide you through. The alien patrols that zone very occasionally in lite even on Nightmare, you just stfu when you think its around.

By the time I got obsessed with this game, the tector being "broken" on nightmare was no issue. All I rely on is the initial blip, I never raise it for anything. The long range blip alert is the single most important thing in the game. I should probably just do a "no sound" run for a true nightmare mode.

If you get too scared just walk right through the area at a brisk pace. Never run of course. You can even walk until you hear the long range blip in many cases.

When you first aggro the ayylmao in medbay, even in nightmare, if you just briskly walk to the door and quickly input the code you can slip through before it arrives. I've been doing it every time when I replay. Tuck aside quick though.

On most difficulties if you just idle around picking nose, perfectly still (as if afk) for maybe 3 minutes the ayylmao will often just be auto-dropped out of a nearby duct/entry point to quickly aggro you. Pause the fuckin game if you need to pee.

You /can/ aggro the alien before you get to the first elevator by being a huge prick. You'll be in deep fucking shit if you do.

The hive on Nightmare taught me some encounters there ARE SCRIPTED. And I don't mean just after whenever you kill a hugger (always hide if you do).

Because of this scripting its actually best to take the left tunnel, then the right one. Its scripted to make absolutely sure 2 are dropped into tunnel at the same time with you when you're doing the last portion, and there's way more places to hide in the right tunnel wing.

No thats me, and I don't really like the droids but they're always gonna be there.

Its like you can learn to live with the alien. Its like a very shitty room mate. The droids are just dicks when you wanna grab the nailgun or come out a vent. At least they're hilariously easy to lose. Most people have trouble with it, they just perfectly move to the precise last location they heard/saw you. Ducking into cupboards or whipping around corners drops them like nuthin.

Keep it that way, most of your "first" encounters will be among the toughest for all 3 types of assholes in the game (human, droid, ayylmao). You should be good from here even if the situations get hairier.

Remember the ayylmao does learn to a degree. It'll even get to the point that it knows you listen to doors and will purposely idle just after walking far enough for one to close behind it.

You can follow the alien surprisingly closely if sneaking just dont step on the tail

I tried the unpredictable alien mod but what it really does is "widens" its behavior. It did end up less predictable but at the same time it entered lite aggro more often and came down for a peek way more. It was alright I guess. It'd prolly be scarier to use it on a lower difficulty if you dont wanna die to droids/humans a lot but still want some more alien hijinks.

There's a few graphical mods but I don't care. I really wish someone would go nuts with level editors and make something. Except we don't have a level editor.

I used a mod to improve LOD and shadow resolution and particle accelerated effects and it looked even more amazing. Contact hardening shadows was good too but I wonder if it worked properly on an nvidia card

I feel Weylant Yutani must have realized they may have already shat the basket, and so there's probably a 2nd group coming to affirm their suspicions. They bought the entire station just to try and secure the ayylmao. They weren't counting on your 1 droid bro or Ms WY Rep to bring that shit back. There's going to be a second look at the place. I believe that was thrown together in more cohesion after you'd already left for the flight recorder mission. They're not gonna bank everything on the off chance of you fucks doing what they needed done.

and its one of the most payable maxed out on 4K games there is on high end machines. I opted for smoother 144 at 1080 but I could still get 60-90 on 4K. My DSR smoothing was fucked at the time so I didn't see a big jump in 4K but I do regret it, game is a visual treat.

I loved the game but wish they kept the original Big Chap design without the raptor legs. Also Making the Alien more of how it originally acted in the first Alien movie at least on a few occasions. I think it would be more horrifying if it were less predictable in the way it behaved. Or at least when it catches you it wouldnt always insta kill you. Maybe drag you away or just something other than always on the hunt to kill. In the original Alien movie it didn't try to hunt anyone. It was literally sleeping when Brett walked in on it and woke it up trying to get some pussy. Dallas hunted it in the vents and it "took" him but didnt kill him. It was sexually attracted to Lambert while totally ignoring Parker until Parker attacked him then turned its attention back to Labert to rape her to death. It didn't even try to attack Ripley until she pissed it off by spraying it with compressed coolant.

For as much as they respected the films and made a fantastic game, they really missed out on what made the alien so alien.

The alien actually has an AI that adapts to your play style.

If you're hiding a lot it will be on the ground more and actively looking into hiding places.

The station was on its way out and basicly useless for the company. They used it and the people on board as a test for the aliens. The ship at the end was the "elite corporate special commando" ship to collect the left overs and see how the test went.
