So in my previous DS1 run, I got to Gwyn and quit the game after 113 hours because I didn't want the experience to end. I recently cleared the game again at 31 hours, and had a blast doing it.
Since DS3 is out, I wanted to complete the sequel that I missed out on to get ready, and holy fuck this game feels so clunky compared to Dark Souls 1. Am I missing something here, because this game feels like a steaming pile of shit compared to DS1. No matter what I do, parrying is impossible, and my character moves like a twitchy tank.
Should I just move on to DS3 and forget this shitfest?
Yes. Dark Souls 2 is the worst game in the series by far.

Parries and backstabs are awful. A lot of the enemies feel samey. Generally it doesn't have the same polish as the other Souls games or Bloodborne mechanically. The geography is also completely fucked.
counter attacks are shit, in ds1 and ds3 when you roll you can do a follow up attack on the enemy if you are locked on but in 2 half of the time my character will just swing his weapon the opposite direction

You have to pump a shitload into Adaptability to increase Agility, which is a new stat which determines how good your dodge is. It'll feel a bit better after that.

if you want the true successor to dark souls 1, play bloodborne. it's the best game of the series.
then go on to dark souls 3 and hopefully you'll appreciate the references and return to traditional souls mechanics after the break with bloodborne
Not OP here, I have a super potato PC and cant play Dark Souls 1, it runs at 6fps but DS runs at 24/30 so basically its the only one I can actually play, since I dont have a next gen console and cant buy one since I live in a third world country, I dont find that many flaws in the game, is actually really amazing and unique, probably because I havent played the others, also the Faraam Set is beautiful
