Any weapon that isn't obviously terrible can carry you for the whole game if you keep upgrading it. Although, you really should have more than one weapon. Versatility is worth more than raw power.

those are people who were experimented on by pontiff sulyvahn. it's not unreasonable that he'd allow those jailer ladies to also perform horrible experiments on imprisoned guys. also, the enemies from the church of the deep who are fleshy dudes but then have facehuggers pop out of their chest are there, implying some sort of relation to the church/deacons of the deep. it's possible that every grotesque looking thing in irithyll dungeon is a result of deacons of the deep experimentation.

Same, even though towards the end i hated those fucking jailors.
That part where there's like 6 of them really rustled my jimmies.
But i was genuinely terrified by those giant gollums, i fucking jumped the first time i saw one.
In a way it feels like Miyazaki is saying goodbye to Souls games with this one.
