Devs need to stop changing their approach to games to appeal to the casual market.
The casual market needs to realize that if they want to get the most out of games, then they are going to need to appreciate and understand more hardcore features. If not then they can just fuck right off. Why should people who want depth in their games be penalized?

Ever since the PS3/360 there really isnt much for them outside nintendo. We got awesome kids games back in the day,
We got pajama sam, putt putt, Carmen san diego, Disney classics, And tons of educational, but fun titles like Kidpix, Mathblaster and more.
Kids these days don't get that. Educational games suck ass nowadays and are poorly made, with very little interest in mind, the games geared to kids don't hold their attention, and given into peer pressure, they don't want to play those "Baby games" they want to play what the cool kids are playing, being the rough and tumble shooters and gritty bloodbath simulators. And because parents turn a blind eye, they get their wish.
The only good kids game to come out recently was pupetteer, and it sold miserably by comparison. but beyond that, kids have, what? Little big planet? imagine babiez?

I had nothing but Nintendo consoles my whole life up till the Wii, but then around 18 I decided I wanted to branch out, and go back and play all the shit i missed on PS2, So I played MGS, Devil may cry, Resident Evil, Silent hill, etc.
I don't know how it would've affected me to play those at a younger age, Honestly, I doubt i would've cared at anything other then maybe SH2. most of it is corny and cartoony rather then scary, but who knows.
Point being, kids shouldn't be playing anything outside their rating bracket, and if theres nothing for em? Tell them to go outside and play ball, or go make friends. Eartbound is a fucking nightmare to a budding kid, Undertale emulates those themes, and while meant for an older audience, kids get ahold of it easily because its popular and every letsplayer has played it to death.
