People having a hard time definitely have the right and should by all means try cooping if they just can't seem to get the hang of it, but turning it into some giant MMO party with a fucking tank, healer, dps, mage bullshit is stupid as fuck and breaks everything.
And don't even get me started on how often I'm forced to carry a boss fight because the host just sits in the back like a bitch and expects me to do all the damage. They need to start doing it so that the amount of souls you get from a boss is percentage based on the amount of damage you dealt. People who rely on phantoms to carry them the whole time should in return be significantly lower level because of it. Getting 75% of the souls despite having two people help you is ridiculous.

That being said. I usually only have one summon to co-op me through a area for fun but for boss battles that are tough I always grab two.

If I recall you can only summon one in the swamp. Which is why even if some people have difficulty with it, the summon game there is kind of poor. Also, put the sign at the bonfire and not the boss gate, because when I went through there I noticed there was fucking fifty summon signs at the bonfire and only like four by the door.

It can be depending on the boss and how fast you do it. Tree boss and deacons can get you a lot early game, and abyss watchers are good too, although that more or less relies on whether you get summoned quickly or not.
