Never played Nuclear Throne because I thought Wasteland Kings was trash. I can only say that it is completely different than Wasteland Kings. It is much more like the binding of isaac. I like it so far but it's really hard. There are tons of awesome guns and plenty of funny puns.

Yes, once you unlock the Robot and the Princess, they let you unlock stuff with those Credits from killing bosses.
They can appear on floor 2 or lower in a Prison locked by a Gold Key, which can drop from any enemy, but normally from the Boss.
You also get access to a guy who will make a shortcut to lower floors for you if you perfect the first floor Boss.

Until whatever kills it. 1st boss will shoot it for awhile, ammo condo will run its face into it for about 5 seconds, tank will destroy it in one hit with the big bullet but distracts the homing bullet, priest will kill it with his gun head shot but everything else takes more shots. Rooms will run after it if you drop it somewhere and let's you kill everything and can take about 5 bullets

I agree with the damage since it's the fastest firing pistol, however the bullet deviation forces you to get up close to enemies often resulting in loss of DPS in longer distances and accidental damage.

Spam clicking can increase your DPS up to 10 fold on some guns.
Convict and Hunter pistols fire much faster spam clicking than holding down and can clear rooms much faster than Marine/Pilot pistols.
Also, Marine Pistol takes 6 shots to kill a Floor 1 Red Shotgun Kin, all other guns take 5.

Yeah but you get like 150 bullets and one duck per clip.

Compared to something like the M16 which can fire 3 grenades every 2 reloads and has 500 bullets, it just seems like trash.

Nuclear Throne in its current state is much more "complete" than Gungeon. Gungeon has terrible balance issues, the enemies are some of the worst bullet sponges I've ever seen. Having a million guns doesn't matter if most of them are just a machine gun that fires a different kind of bullet, and either way, the bullet spongieness of the enemies makes the gunplay feel tedious unless you have one of the OP room clearing weapons, in which case it's too easy.

Seriously, I like both games but Gungeon stops being enjoyable really quick each time I play it, usually around the fourth or fifth run. Nuclear Throne is fast paced and difficult enough that the gameplay is consistently varied, and that you almost don't even think about starting over. Most of the rooms in Gungeon boil down to you sitting in place and dodging easily telegraphed attacks while the enemies tediously soak up bullets.The only real challenge comes from the bosses, and that's usually because they have so much HP that they just outlast you and your resources.

I'll probably keep playing Gungeon for another ten hours or so but there's no way it's going to replace NT as my go to lunch break game.

It's much more like Issac then NT.

And I don't know how a game that isn't even completed yet with almost jack for unlocks can somehow feel like a more complete game then Gungeon.

Game feels a lot more weighted than NT, which I like. And as for repetitiveness, I wouldn't say it's much moreso than it, NT was really pick the same "good" mutations when they popped up, and pick up the good guns till you got the "core" you would use until Loop infinity. I mean, as soon as the loop starts you're going to be taking the EXACT same steps every time you spawn in a stage. Spray until you're low, then switch to you other weapon and smack while getting the drops.

I wouldn't compare this game that much to Nuclear Throne. The gameplay is somewhat like Nuclear Throne but the pacing and dungeon crawling is much more like Binding of Isaac.

Also, this game motivates me to do something that not even BoI did and that is exploring the whole damn floor. Its like there might always be a surprise or a key waiting in the next room.

I agree that Gungeon is more like Isaac or Crypt of the Necrodancer, in that they're more about the huge item pool and tons of unlockables, while NT is a more traditional roguelike in that player skill is more important having pick ups. To that extent, I don't know why your judging NT for not having unlocks. NT feels more complete to me because it's really well balanced.

Yeah but in NT you don't NEED the good weapons and mutations to loop. You can take shit like Gamma Guts and Rad Hunger and still do fine if you're good. Probably a tossup between the Muhreen and Hunter. Convict's passive isn't for me, and I really dislike Pilot's crap pistol and the super unreliable lockpick.

The one that charges up to produce a black hole/blank shot is amazing for clearing rooms, the long charge time makes it kinda suck on bosses where you tend to be rolling a lot more. It's hard to argue against the fightsaber not being one of, if not the best guns overall however.

Probably a lot of the table techs. Useless in boss fights, but damn the focus one is fun to use. and really helpful on chamber 4/5.

Look at Isaac, its a ridiculous imbalanced mess and that is what makes the game fun. Gungeon has those small fluctuations between positively balanced and negatively balanced that make it fun too.

It's a bullet hell game, yes it takes a few minutes to kill a boss. It's a game about dodging bullets, not a game about using chaos card on the hush.

As far as the regular enemies taking a long time to kill, it's simply untrue. Maybe if you're playing as the pilot and using the rogue special in a hollow, but if you're doing that your run is already unless you are amazing at dodging. With even the most average drops, you will be melting shit by the fourth/fifth chambers.

Yeah you shouldn't be able to one shot everything right off the bat but bosses shouldn't take as long as they do either. As I keep saying, the game needs some BALANCE. I agree that it really picks up in the later levels, but that's not where you spend the majority of your time until you git gud.

Also, if this is a bullet hell then it's pretty shit as far as bullet hells go.

Seems about 80% of the time I full clear, get no upgrades, kill the boss, get shit guns. Get bodied by the next boss I haven't seen.

At least das3 artificial difficulty keeps it fun. I have 0 interest learning how to beat this game without real upgrades.
