This is a game where all the stakes are on the line. If you lose the ship, it has a 50% chance to drop whatever is on it (where the hull is). Else, the market exists for a reason.
Starter buddies can explore and hack data and relic sites, or if into less volatile money making, FW produces some 100M/hr (which is what the character should be making). Market savvy? Buy low, and sell high. There are drugs, ships, minerals -- gas huffing, mining (gross), wormholes (+ frig-size-only versions), security space (police or turrets attacking aggressors), 0-security space, and plenty of other options.
Hear that the gameplay is spreadsheets? Drivel. If the pilot is only using the click commands (approach.. orbit), the ship is taking an inefficient pathing and can't predict or cut corners on their direction line.

Havin fun, when the trial ends I might actually buy a couple of months or so. When I git gud I'll join a corporation.
Probably won't participate in the Great Northern War but I will follow the news and updates. Curious to see who'll win. If the Eastern Alliance joins in it could tip the scales to either side.

Subs you buy with dollary doos, plex you buy with in-game space bux or on the store for dollary doos. For the referral you'd have to make a new account and PLEX it. If you never installed it, then great, get the referral and make an account, because obviously you don't have any characters to lose.

First time I ever left high sec was in a throwaway Rifter
I just wanted to speed through and see what low-null sec looked like, got caught by some other guy in a Rifter in 0.4 space and got podded
You just gotta get out there in test ships and get podded or you will be scared of dying forever, don't sweat losses and try to fly cheap stuff you don't worry about losing too much
Also don't make the mistake I did, you starting race doesn't mean much, fly the race of ships YOU like, I got stuck with a shit ton of SP in Caldari and I fucking hate missiles

This game is fun because I can get into an engagement almost immediately. Some fly around nullsec for hours trying to find action, but FW is where it's at, and if taking a sec status hit seems fine, the character doesn't even have to be in FW at all.
What's the latency like for someone living in New Zealand?
