So, I just inherited a gamecube with mario sunshine, luigis mansion, sonic adventure 2, Def jam NY and Smash melee and I have to say, I'm not impressed so far at all.
I can see why Sunshine gets so much shit now. It's nowhere near on the level of 64 and the dirt gimmick is retarded. I play Mario for the platforming not squirting shit with water
Played Luigi's Mansion for a couple of hours and it's honestly one of the most boring games I've ever played. I'm up to the part where you meet toadstool in the bathroom. Does it get any better? or is it just the same shit over and over again?
Played some of melee and it was fun but it's just smash honestly. I've already got Wii U smash which has a bigger roster, better graphics and online so I don't really have any use for it and will probably sell it
Sonic is the only game I've liked so far. It has a lot of great courses and it's just a blast. I'd played SA1 on the Dreamcast but this is so much better. Best game on the gamecube for me so far

SA2 is a Dreamcast game and honestly I think the only reason you are impressed by it its because there are very few things you can compare it to nowadays.
But yeah, Sunshine has good physics but the level design doesnt exploit them 100%
Melee is the best smash if you are a tourneyfag, otherwise its pretty poor content wise compared with the new installments.
Luigis mansion is a decent game but its short and kinda shows its age.

Honestly unless you have local friends who also play melee it's really not that appealing anymore compared to the newer ones. Being autistic and solo practicing for hours to get to tournament level is dull and like all fighting games unless you have people to fight it loses appeal faster.

yeah it only took me so long because the game is so shit and luigi moves 1 kmph. Plus the layout of the castle is confusing as fuck. Does it get any better? Having played Mario 64 a lot lot, and never playing Sunshine, I can honestly say Sunshine kicks the shit out of 64. I can't even go back to 64 but I can think fondly of Sunshine with its cute graphics, gamecube controller, abusable fludd jump hovering.
Didn't like Luigi's Mansion, it's a real girl game. My mom liked it.
Melee is fun because it's fast. If you can't have a deep combat system, at least make it fast.
