I just started on P3 for the first time. After the scene with MC releasing his persona for the first time, I knew it would be better than P4.

P3 and P4 are really nice games, I'm considering dropping Nocturne and playing FES, but at the same time, I want to play another SMT game that isn't friendship simulator and I already played through 3.

Not first dude, but Nocturne so far is a lot more enjoyable than 3, mostly due to how straightforward it is.
You want to grind? Go for it, you don't need 17 transition screens and the game doesn't make you go through a randomly generated area where eventually you will get tired, your MP drained and eventually bored.
You want that Daemon? Grind, get shit and the try to recruit it, now you have a kickass Daemon pal to help you out.
Need to get some mana back? Ya got chakra drops up the ass, persona 3 gives you like 10 snuff souls at best.
You wanna get that one boss daemon or any powerfull as fuck Daemon in general? Just fuse shit till ya get em, you don't need to fake giving a shit about people in your school.

Gameplay wise 4 is better than 3, but 3 has much better characters and story imo. I haven't touched this series in years, don't know if it has much replay value since it's literally going to be the exact same shit again, maybe with some different social links.

It's the same as P4's and is inferior to Golden's. Battles weren't changed so that they would work with the combat system, so there were battles that were far easier than they should be, and others that were harder.

Without cutscenes and character models you see plenty of people not knowing what is actually happening during important scenes.
Obviously this doesn't go into how it really downgraded Persona 3's gameplay mechanics, such as only being able to use one weapon.

So you don't care if it looks like shit, need your combat to be casualized despite the A.I. doing everything right 99% of the time, and completely disregard cutscenes, the best way persona 3 had of properly giving us the narrative, making us care for the protags, and generating a interesting story, all for the sake of VN styled "tell, never show due to limitations", while it delivers a much less impactfull sense of apocalyptic doom that it did so well in its last months and weeks as all of the characters slowly mature and grow closer to eatchother.
So, screw Junpei maturing with the death of the girl he loved, screw Akihiko slowly wining over Shinjiro to help out SEES again, screw Ken confronting Shinjiro, Screw his funeral and Akihiko maturing to try and make him proud, screw the Shrine scene where they all try to bond together for the small amount of remaining time they have before impending doom only they can stop, screw it all, right anon?

You can't lose points in S.Links, only not get any.
You can, however, reverse S.links if you ignore them for months or cancel a date, unless you're playing P3P where they removed any chance of reversing them.

They didn't, as far as I know.
They did however fuck up the 50hz conversion so the game freezes like a motherfucker in certain areas, especially the Labyrinth of Amala. I also had a shitload of freezing in the prison area. You have to switch it to 60hz for those areas, but then the game looks like shit and the text is all blurry.
