The sudden switch from playing a helpless survivor, to a hulking armored Big Daddy was a significant point for me.
It was so easy to Drill-Charge enemies and drillfuck them in the stomach, whereas the Wrench in Bioshock 1 made you have to duck and dodge melee attacks.
The drill would Stun enemies if you spun it into them, realistic yes, but I was able to play 75% of the Game with my upgraded Drill Arm.

I really enjoy that they did so much aping of Bioshock 1 in 2, but always subvert it at the end. Sinclair being the best example, of course.

Sure it was laggy, buggy, and everyone used the fucking Electro-Bolt/ElephantGun/Crossbow bullshit, but when you had a nice game going, it was so fun.
I miss Insect Swarming dumb newbies, and pecking them off with that Pistol. The Nail Gun was one of my Top-5 favorite weapons, just for the Modifications you could slap on it, and the spamming of it was fun.

Not a bait dude. The concept of singleplayer shooter is dead since Doom days, Doom only got it because of a novelty factor.
It's just FPS is too boring of a genre to be played without other people. Everybody understood it long time ago and started playing Q2 together.
Since then one group has been playing a essential evolution of a singleplayer FPS i. e. adventure stuff. Another group plays arena and/or tactical multiplayer shooters. Outcasts desperately try to have intercourse with a corpse. It's dead Jim, let it go.
