Based on the sounds that the guns in FF13 makes, I can assume that the guns in their world are unlike our guns. FF13 guns make a very weak firing noise. At one point in chapter 1, Gadot gets shot but is only slightly shaken. Their power is probably closer to air rifles than any of our smokeless powder guns. Real hunting 30 caliber rifles sound like thunder and can be heard up to 2 kilometers away. The sound is so loud that it pierces your ear drums unless you wear hearing protection even when shot outdoors. A 150 grain 30-06 sprg flies at nearly mach 3.It would be impossible for Lightning to dodge bullets unless she can react 3x faster than sound.
She just runs around in the open throughout the entirety of chapter 1. She never flies with her gadgets. She just uses it at one point to survive a 30 meter fall. At the start of FF13, she's just an average sergeant in some Guardian Corps. A hunting rifle would be far superior to her gunblade or any of the guns used in FF13. L'cie Lightning is a different matter. Her Odin would likely shrug off any bullets and slice me in half.
Here's a guy that could beat Lightning at the start of FF13. He would also kill me pretty easily. Maybe some /k/ommando might operate better than Jason but I certainly can't.

Something going faster than the speed of sound will make a loud noise regardless of noise suppressant used. The guns in FF13 are inferior to our real world guns.
Yeah Sazh stopped her from crossing a large gap but IIRC she never uses her gadget to actually fly. Whether her plan would have worked or not is uncertain. For all we know, Sazh may have saved Lightning.

Octopi also have no bones, meaning a single hit to the "head" would deal brain damage. Trauma still matters even if your organs are squishy. I'd be fighting on land, where I have a size and mobility advantage.
