It's hugely successful in the west because they finally started to market the series. Since people said good things about Awakening of course people would go get Fates. Plus, the fans who are disappointed in the censorship of the game will still buy out of fear that if it doesn't sell that FE won't get localized. Every star ocean is mostly on 1 planet besides 2, where it's about 50/50 between two planets and 5 minutes on 2 other planets. Even the majority of 4 is on Roak despite it being like the 4th or 5th planet you go to. The >star ocean >X planets posting is stupid.

No, I've played the game dozens of times since I was 8 when I got it in 95. My first playthrough got to the 2nd to last chapter at 18 hours on the file. You only reach the last chapter after doing all the sidequests at the end and being a stupid kid I wasn't able to figure out Son of Sun or do Robo's mother brain section very well until I was a bit older. I think i reached The Final Battle on about a 15 hour file when I was 12 or so for the first time. Now I can do everything in the game in about 7-8 hours on average because I know it inside and out.
I don't know of gamefaqs existed in 95, but I wouldn't have internet until 8 years later so I sure as hell wasn't using any guides.
