Got these for 20 bucks. They okay as long as I lower my standards? Been on a Zelda kick and haven't played either of these.
>>
>>333754868
They're perfectly fine, don't be a baby.
>>
>>333754868
I'll say they're very Ok-ish, Spirit Track's music is great as well.
>>
I'm a huge zelda fan and I fucking loved Phantom Hourglass (Unlike a lot of people on /v/ apparently)
Despite having played and finished a fair few zelda games, I've never managed to get further than a few hours into Spirit Tracks, I find it so dull.
>>
They're pretty good once you get used to the touch controls.
>>
>>333755131
I know exactly how you feel.
>>
>>333754868
ST is ok. PH is fucking shit tho.
>>
>>333754868
Shit for a Zelda; good for a game.
>>
>>333755591
About what i've heard
>>
>>333754868
spirit tracks is donkey doo doo but phantom hourglass is good
>>
>>333754868
Can't wait until they release them on the Wii U virtual console, then I'll maybe get them.
>>
>>333754868

You'll get tired like shit from Phantom hourglass unless you put some other music. Spirit track is alright
>>
ST is great (not anywhere close to the best, but still absolutely a 9/10 game), and PH is at least a Zelda game, which makes it better than most games out there.
>>
>>333757057
Does Spirit Tracks just start off bad and get better or is it just a game that's not gonna do it for me?
Don't get why it's the only Zelda game I don't enjoy
>>
>>333754868

Spirit Tracks is pretty cool, Phantom Hourglass isn't worth bothering with.
>>
>>333757214

>Does Spirit Tracks just start off bad and get better
Yes.
>Just a game that's not gonna do it for me?
Also possible.
>>
PH was ok. Never finished ST.
>>
I thought PH was okay, but ST is the only Zelda game that I quit playing midway. I don't know who the fuck thought putting trains into Zelda was a good idea, but I hope they got fired.
>>
>>333757741

The train is better than PH's boat.
>>
>>333757741
Boats I can understand for most fantasy settings but trains?
Trains suck.
>>
>>333757941
The boat had Linebeck, who I remember liking.
>>
Holy shit look at the divisiveness on this board.
>>
>>333754868
I too am on a Zelda spree.
Played through ALBW, ALttP and OoT, currently playing Wind Waker.
Haven't played any other Zeldas so don't know where I'm going next.
>>
>>333758107
Play the oracle games, they're great
>>
>>333758312
Both? Any order preferred?
Also I'm glad you said them since I am probably gonna go for one of the portable ones next.
>>
>>333758107
I just finished Wind Waker today, also not sure which game to go for next.
I want ALttP because I've never played it but I know I wont be happy unless I get a complete boxed copy which is gonna be pricey
>>
>>333754868
Phantom Hourglass was pretty enjoyable, the only Zelda game I've ever finished, only real problem is one really shitty temple you are forced to over and over, but the rest of the game is enjoyable, but not perfect.
>>
>>333758456
You can start with either, but I prefer starting with ages because of how you get the master sword doing it that way
>>
>>333754868
Forced stylus makes these games unplayable
>>
>>333758507
Are you not a fan of digital games? Also I think there is a version on GBA that may be easier to get a hold of.
>>
Personally PH was awful, although you might like it. The exploration and whatnot was fun, but it had several issues, like rerunning that dumb temple a bunch of times (going slightly deeper each time). I stopped playing once the the third time happened because of how stupid it was.
>>
>>333758686
Thanks will do.
>>
>>333758798
Not really, I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to physical media.
I didn't even think about the GBA, cheers.
>>
>>333758715
LOL
for an autist maybe
>>
>>333754868
>>333754868
>lower my standards

As opposed to what? They're better than Skyward Sword at least.
>>
>>333757943
Eat shit
>>
They're pretty bad but kinda fun in some parts. If you are a die hard zelda fan I do recommend them, if not I'd avoid.
>>
Sure man. A tad on the lower spectrum of Zelda games, but still pretty dang fun. Spirit Tracks has one of my favorite climaxes in the series, honestly.
>>
>>333754868
theyre the worst 2 zelda games
>>
>>333756890
>PH's music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmUzpYaxNIc
>>
Phanton hourglass was really good. I mean its a handheld and still very entertaining. I'm playing Spirit Tracks right now. Hope it gets better...
>>
>>333754868
Phantom Hourglass is the worst Zelda Game by far
>>
>>333759387
>what is skyward sword
>>
>>333759858
Skyward Sword had the Ancient Cistern and Sandship

Phantom Hourglass has nothing positive about its gameplay
>>
>>333759858
Is Skyward Sword really that bad?
I've yet to play it and it looks ok
>>
>>333754868
Phantom Hourglass is ugly as sin, and the Temple of the Ocean King or whatever will haunt your dreams. The rest is solid enough though, and that final boss fight is one of the my favorites in the series.

Spirits Tracks is slightly less ugly with a much better done version of the TotOK (I actually have zero idea what it was really called). The tracks are certainly a bit of a shock to long time Zelda fans, however I found it to be a great addition to the franchise, it works in the game world and has some of the best dungeons. And Zelda in that game is probably the best incarnation after Tetra herself. That flute is the worst instrument in the entire series though.
>>
>>333759858
The worst 2 zelda games out of the ones i've played, and i've played every one that isn't SS or Triforce Heroes

A lot of the puzzles in the DS zeldas are just "look at this thing, and write it on the map to use in 15 minutes" which really kills the game. I get PH was an earlier DS game, but by the time ST rolled around they should have known better
>>
>>333760134
How's four swords?
I wanna get it but it's pretty expensive for the GameCube
>>
>>333760043
Its a mixbag, but it was dissapointing as fuck

The good
>Stamina
>Dash
>Crafting system
>Couple decent dungeons

The bad
>Combat
>Linear as fuck
>No overworld
>Handholding
>Ugly
>Retarded plot
>Lame new races
>Meh soundtrack
>Recalibrating the wiimote every 5 minutes
>>
>>333760445
It's an odd game, but the other zeldas aren't like it at all. You're really missing out on a lot if you play single player, without and friends. Never got to really play with more than 1 other person, though.

It's been years since i've played it. I don't remember it being too terrible though
>>
I liked ST for what it was but the flute was a real problem on emulator and the mic of the 3DS wasn't great either.
I havent finished PH because that close your DS part fucks it for me on emulators and i havent search for a way to do it.
>>
>>333760540
Damn, the soundtrack's one of my favourite parts of Zelda games and I already hate the Wii remote
>>
>>333760540
>Recalibrating the wiimote every 5 minutes
If you play like a retard maybe. I've had to calibrate maybe twice during my entire playthrough.
>>
>>333759858
The 3rd best 3D Zelda. That still puts in the bottom half of all Zelda games but it's hardly the worst.
>>
>>333760540
>The bad
>Combat
>Linear as fuck
>No overworld
>Handholding
>Recalibrating the wiimote every 5 minutes
Found the idiot.
>>
>>333761125
This is my fave one, but the ost in general was pretty bland imo.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0np8WU2Znw

>>333761190
>werks for me :^)
motion controls are bound to be faulty.
>>
>>333760889
>spirit flute duets

I swear i was stuck on the sand one for 2 fucking hours, the mic just wasn't working for me
>>
>>333761562
Not that anon but that isn't a 'works for me' post in the meme sense. If you have to recalibrate constantly then you the user are doing something wrong.
>>
>>333761835
A lot of people complains about the same. So, we are a bunch of retards, or the controls do have some issues. I'm not saying the game is unplayable, but items like the bow needed constant recalibrations.

Motion controls didn't add anything of sustance in the end. Another reason why the game was disapointing.
>>
What order should I play the Oracle games in?
>>
>>333762515
Seasons, then Ages. Seasons is better in my opinion, in music, dungeons, and items. Ages is more puzzle oriented, though, so if you like that sort of thing you might want to think about playing that first. No matter which, stick around after the credits for a password to start a new game in the other game with, like a New Game+ of sorts
>>
>>333762330
You're trying to get me to agree to claims I'm not making. I never said the controls were perfect or had zero issues.

If you have to constantly recalibrate, you are doing something wrong. Are you then asking me if I think a large number of Wii owners aren't the most technically minded people and could fuck something as simple as using a sensor bar and knowing how to soft reset the sword swings? Then my answer is yes.
>>
I enjoyed PH more than ST. I fucking love Trains but holy shit it was poorly handled.

The flute thing in ST was fucking garbage and never worked.

The "main" dungeons you had to go back to were fucking annoying though.
>>
>>333755131

I managed to finish it, but the concept never really captured me. The train is pretty slow, warping can be finnicky as hell, and all the side quests were of the escort variety.

Either you are carting around a person and must abide arbitrary track rules, or you are carting around an item and have to defend it from enemy tanks and train who are fucking psychic and show up at the worst times.

If the enemy trains didn't give you an automatic game over whenever you ran into them it would've made the game much more bearable.
>>
They're decent, but they both come across as a little bland. They each have some of the best helper characters in the entire series though. Linebeck better be the DLC character for Hyrule Warriors Legends.
>>
>>333762821
>The flute thing in ST was fucking garbage and never worked.
You can play songs on it faster than mashing button inputs with the ocarina.

All the songs use adjacent notes so all you have to do is get the first note and slide to the last one while blowing. It's a split second gesture.
>>
>>333758107
Majora's Mask is the best in the franchise. Okami is the best in the genre. Play those
>>
>>333763146

No, some of the later songs have you skipping notes, the final one included.
>>
How were you supposed to know the whistle sped your train up when you grabbed a tear of light?
>>
>>333762818
Can't argue with that. It was mainly the bow. The game even gave you the option to fire with A, so they knew that thing was faulty.
>>
>>333754868
I started Phantom Hourglass fully expecting not to like it because of the stylus combat, then before I knew it I'd almost finished the game. It's addictive as fuck.
>>
>>333755131
Yeah I didn't like the on the rails zelda theme.
>>
>>333754868

Play PH first. ST shits all over PH but both are good games.
>>
>>333763539
I'm talking about the songs you learn and can play anywhere.
>>
>>333763438
I actually played through Okami about 2 weeks ago. I very much enjoyed it.
>>
>>333754868
It's weird how the Toon Link games are the most divisive Zelda titles. They're all love-it-or-hate-it.

Like some people swear up and down by their hatred of Wind Waker, which seems ridiculous to me but whatever. Others will say it's their favorite, or "the last good Zelda" if they didn't like TP.
>>
>>333764645
Wind Waker is good and was honestly the first Zelda I got into and beat, but the lack of dungeons and that triforce shit at the end really hurt it.
>>
>>333764645
>It's weird how the Toon Link games are the most divisive Zelda titles. They're all love-it-or-hate-it.

That's what creativity tends to do.
>>
If there was an option to play these games with a standard control layout I think i'd be able to enjoy them. But the hideous touch controls kill it for me. these games are complete ass.
>>
>>333754868
I liked phantom hourglass besides the shit soundtrack
>>
>>333764876
Triforce shards thing felt like a combination of concepts, like...

>player needs money to pay tingle
>so they do sidequests, hunt treasure, and explore more of the extra islands
>in the process they progress the plot by grabbing shards

but i think a lot of people were thorough and didn't need the extra push to quest and explore so the shard hunting was just tedious back n forth.
>>
I'm probably one of the few people that actually prefers trains instead of being in a boat. Spirit Tracks is also the only Zelda in the series where Link and Zelda actually feel like they're friends and their relationship is great.
