Diablo: Lazaruz, Leoric, Izual etc
Starcraft: Zerg corruption, Kerrigan
Warcraft: Almost everyones now
It's symbolic of the corruption Activision has had on Blizzard since their merger

Does Warhammer/40k feature corruption? Seeing as they started out by copying them it would make sense if they also took that from them.

Not in the same way as Blizzard's titles. Corruption is mostly worshiping or succumbing to temptations of Chaos and it is rarely used as a plot device.
One example that comes to mind are inquisitors. Most of them start as puritans but slowly become radicals when they realize what toys the opposite side has. They'll start fighting Chaos using Chaos against itself which can be usually considered heresy and a pathway to actual corruption.

Because it's an easy way to make a new raid boss without having to come up with a brand new character.
You can just take an established character with an expansive backstory, add some Corruption™ and BOOM, you got yourself a new raid boss with minimal effort required.

the best shit is that it's the most hamfisted corruption ever, the kind thats treated as a like an infectious thing? so people just start coming down with a bad case of Evil without needing it to be justified through character development or anything
