Because EA ruined Lionhead, and nobody else has the balls to make a God game.
>>
Because the idea itself was more interesting than the game.
>>
There this game called Godus. I got it somehow on Origin but never played it yet.
There was also that game that had a TF2 promotion on steam where I think you played as a God. Don't remember what it'd called but it had a shaman looking dude on the cover.
>>
>>333718010
What the fuck are you talking about, it was a great game, very interesting.

Is that Bobby Kotick?

Is From Dust a good game? Steam faggotson reviewers only write about hurr durr muh DRM.

because it was kind of shit

It has some neat things, but it's overall disappointing
There's so much they could have done with the tech that they didn't
It IS fun for a bit though, if it's cheap you should pick it up

the game is basically spore but years earlier. huge hype followed by a disappointing release. though just like spore, if you played it without following the game pre-release you'll probably like it.
it also had a bunch of really dumb features like trying to read what the weather is in your area and pasting it into the game, and having the ability to email your friends about what you just did in-game as a sort of proto-social media integration.

Why did Evil lose its way by turning into a Diablo-clone arpg?

BECAUSE YOU CAN DO ANYTHING.

I remember being young and dumb enough to be amazed when Peter Monolongadingdam showcased black and white 2 and zoomed in on a barrel of apples to show a worm in one of them as if it were incredible detail.
>>
>>333718798
What the hell was that screen supposed to mean? I remember seeing only this phrase.
>>
>>333718542
Its a short neat little game. Could have been something amazing if they actually made a proper game around it.
>>
>>333719016
I think that was the multiplayer.

>The future room was originally intended to be used by Lionhead to hint at future updates for Black & White. As the only releases were 2 patches for the game and Creature Isle, of which none were announced in the Future Room, the Future Room is not used and simply displays the message "The future is still uncertain..." This room is also used when starting an online game. As such it functions as a background, so the player can't move around or change the point of view.

And now you know

Perhaps the same could be said of all video games...
>>
>>333719505
Not really... .... ...

I hated the fact that i taught my creature to eat humans but run friendly villages othervise perfectly fine turned him into a fat good aligned fuck. While i was pure evil because i kept throwing fireballs at enemy villages. The morality system didnt make much sense.
>>
>>333718542
No

I remember being extremely underwhelmed by the demo
>>
>>333719427
You could turn that off in the sequel, from what I recall.
>>
>>333716495

Cause we ain't goin nowhere till we get some wood
>>
The hype was ridiculous, as per Molyneux norm, and the end result was disappointing. Fun for a while, but disappointing.
>>
Has there been a behaviour AI that was done better than in the Creature AI?
>>
I wish there was. This game was all I played when I was a kid. Fucking great shit.
>>
>>333720001
>had no internet as a kid
>only had a description of the game from the only game magazine in my country
>is still one of my favorite games of all time

Expectations ruin your life.
>>
I picked it up from the bargain bin having no clue what it was and loved it. Also had less vidya experiences to compare it to then, but there's something to be said going into a game with absolutely know foreknowledge or hype to be spoiled
>>
>>333719725
The Creature isn't an AI in the sequel though, it's just a super unit you upgrade with points. The Creature AI was a BITCH to train but when you actually were able to successfully teach your creature something like feeding itself and helping your villages it was so satisfying.

This desu. I think I am going to try to skip any videogame/movie review from now on. Fuck this shit, you can't fucking wash the bias from yourself after reading something.
>>
I just wanted a comfy city builder man
>>
>>333718542
It's disappointing. There's good potential but not enough is done with it.
>>
>>333719427
Once you've trained your pet well enough the payoff is substantial. My lion would run into enemy towns, water crops, give them food and wood, heal shit and just generally look impressive as fuck.

Lion was the best by animal by a mile.
>>
>>333720917
The 2nd game has a really addictive city-building aspect which is probably the best part of the game.

Everything else was such a step back.
>>
>tfw you can't buy B&W online

What did lionhead mean by this
>>
>>333721424
they meant go pirate it
>>
>>333721347
Had fun city building yeah, but the combat wasnt all that fun so the building didnt have much point.

Disliked it on this reason alone already.
