That's only because you are a lonely, salty faggot, who has to pretend he's the most hardcore out there.
If someone mentions playing war thunder, you start whining and mumbling something about dcs with $2000 worth of controllers being the only sane option.

If you didn't have fun playing destruction derby or burnout, you are simply a loser. You actually couldn't have played these games, because you were born in the year 2000. Fucking cunt.

How fucking angry are you. Can't even handle simple criticism. All those shitty strawmen accusations too, and you call me the underage. Grow up faggot.

Burnout 1 and 2 were pretty shit tier BTW, exactly the type of games I am talking about with floaty mechanics, not to mention cutscenes on every crash. Apparently 3 was better but I dropped the series with 2.

Destruction Derby on PS1 was good though, I wouldn't call that the same tier of arcade racer as everyhing else as your car was pretty easy to write off completely so you had to be careful with overturning. Also that game was more focused on smashing other cars of the road too, it was a much better Burnout, before Burnout. It's been a long time since I played but I remember it having some weight to it.

I mean it's very sim-heavy so I can see why people would be into that

>>
>>333717596

Is there even an option to turn it off in 1 and 2?

Yes I played almost every Need for Speed (including the original) up until Underground 2. I can handle arcade to a degree, I just hate the really floaty weightless ones like the new NFS games. Criterion games are the worst for this, I fucking hate all Criterion shit. I retried Burnout Paradise on PS3 and it felt horrible, tried NFS Hot Pursuit reboot, it was horrible to drive as well, found out devs are fucking Criterion surprise surprise. Midnight Club did open world arcade racer much better than anything Criterion ever did.

I played Colin McRae Rally, and V-Rally on PS1 mainly, but I did play 1 of them on PS2 as well as one of the WRC games. I also played Gran Turismo on PS1 a fucking shit ton. I don't know if it counts but Wipeout was really good, that is how to do an arcade racer.

But my favorite racing games would be Flatout. That game literally perfected driving mechanics. Never played a game that had better driving than Flatout 1 holy shit it felt good to master that, especially on the ice tracks. Flatout 2 arcaded it up a little bit, but was still really good. Hopefully Wreckfest will be a true successor to that series.
>>

Middle part of top tiers in daily events, that's best i can do. But then again, i'm not too committed, after 70 hours i'm still in "elite" singleplayer tier.

I'm slowly realizing that only thing you have to get top tier is not fall off the track.

Still, i love this game. Really, this game and DFGT were one of my best entertainment purchases ever.

I don't think money is an issue in this game. One-two singleplayer championship countries (even finished on lower positions) and there you are, ~200,000.

>>
Heres how i determine a shit racing game:

If you don't have to worry about spinning out due to heavy braking or power oversteer in a FR, its IRREDEEMABLE SHIT.

Some pad games get it right, but most are on rails and/or have terrible "pivot" physics.
>>
>>333727090

>>333729726
good enough, but mods add other cars and great stages
actually swap cars, not add new ones. And be sure to try online rallies on rbr-czech or rsrbr. I crashed out a lot, maybe not on first or second stage, but the emotions and so on.
>>
>>333730018

>>
>>333717117
>apparently 3 was better
No. UC was better. 3 was by a completely different developer and was shit.
>>
>>333730060
So, the "stock" RBR driving model is significantly better than dirt rally one? More realistic, allowing to do more interesting things?

I'm not attacking RBR or anything, i truly haven't played it yet and i'm really interested
i guess i'll pirate it now to try what's it about - i can forgive bad graphics if it's really so great, and i guess it's great since everyone still talks about it
>>
>>333730646
I haven't played dirt rally, I can't compare.

Also there's an easter egg hidden in rbr audio.dat. If you unpack it, you find an .ogg with a song. Don't stop my codriver or something like that. Made out of pacenotes and folk instruments.

There also should be some kind of widescreen fix, to correct aspect radio in 16:9 resolutions, because game has problems with them.

Do you want to spend the cash to take your own car out to go fast and race?
like, depending on what you do, it's pretty affordable, but you could get a lot of the fun of that in a simulator and without car maintenance or putting yourself in any danger whatsoever

>>333714652
It's different from reality. That's explicitly the appeal, to be able to do things that aren't practical/possible in reality, such as driving a car sideways at 200mph for half a mile with the nose nearly pressed right against the corner.
Despite not having the same kind of handling like a real car, arcade style games tend to have their own handling nuances and demands, and there are different things that keep the skill ceiling high (unless the game is really lazy shit, and I've played a couple like that).

>>333717117
Burnout 1 is a bit jank, but I really think 2 is fantastic. It's got satisfying handling and the game is more about skillful, risky driving and maintaining long-ass boosts than crashes, unlike 3 and onward.
It's a bit lacking in weight simply because you need to be able to get your car out of the way of things ASAP.
>>
Arcade racing is pretty boring, it feels like you're stuck to rails. You could easily beat Dirt Showdown without even breaking.

RBR's cars feel very weird coming from dirt. It's not always more realistic, but it is more difficult. Every stage feels like Sweden for grip and you seriously have to load up the front to get any kind of turn-in. The handbrake is tougher to use too - dirt's is a get out jail free card in contrast.

I prefer dirt's model overall still, but both are worth your time.
