Dark Souls became popular because it was a PS3 exclusive , sony plebs overhyped it because it was one of the few exclusives and thats what got the game high ratings. Not OP, but I played through the tutorial area earlier today.
Performance and graphics-wise, it's basically Bloodborne with acceptable loading times. I did not notice any framerate issues during gameplay. Though, weirdly enough, there were slowdowns and framerate drops during character creation.
