/tv/'s had this thing going for a while where they pretend there's a meaningful difference between "movies" and "film." After a while it got to the point where there was sort of a heirarchy of terms: cinema > film > movies > flicks. This provided enough shitposting ammo for a time, but then someone dug up the term "kino" and added it to the list. Kino is supposed to be that rare form of motion picture that's so good, even the term cinema doesn't do it justice.
