Are staves the most underrated weapons in games?
What are some games aside from Dark Messiah where I can use a staff in melee combat?
Chivalry has some nice melee combat and you can use a staff. it's fun as long as you don't get a tryhard who keeps doing matrix and rainbow shit.

When you consider the argument that sword wanking is justified due to weapons like Polearms being weapons of war and not travelers weapons, yes. Quarterstaffs were a traveler's weapon much as a sword is.
Neither is a proper hunting weapon though, which is also a justified reason for a character to be wandering with a lethal weapon.
