Seems to be down across the board, no player messages, no summon sings, no invasions, nothing.
Idle for 30 minutes. If still 0 nodes, restart the game (from the menu - don't alt+f4) and idle for another 30 minutes.
I've had to do this before to get out of 0 node hell.
to anyone having multiplayer problems, do this:
set your download location to USA: columbus in steam
make sure you have the watchdog and dsfix mods installed
that's literally it, i was having nonstop issues with invading a few days ago (first time in years) and all the issues went away once i selected the columbus server
please note that das1 checks for new nodes every 5 minutes, but once they start coming in, they populate pretty fast

I play DS1 almost exclusively on ps3. Much better online community and no cheating. You should too if its the online you want

Ignore everyone else in this thread, Dark Souls PvP master has entered the thread.
Since the steamworks update, download regions barely matter anymore. They help you to connect faster to the nodes that are on the same region as you, but there is nothing stopping you from getting player from Japan while you are USA dl region.
If you have 0 nodes, do this:
1) Quit DaS normally (no alt + f4)
2) Download PvP watchdog
3) Restart STEAM
4) Launch DaS again
5) Wait for 5 minutes and you should have 20 nodes
The game is definitely not dead, because DaS3 is just around the corner I've been getting instant invasions for days now.

Download regions don't matter, just restart steam and you are good. And you aren't "stuck in offline mode" because you quit the game. The game gives you temporary ban because it thought you alt+F4 in middle of a duel. It last 5 minutes and you get your nodes back.

if nothing comes after that, restart
I've been trying to coop with a friend for 3h now and we've tried everything to no avail. It's been constantly 0 nodes too, which leads me to believe that the servers are down.

Apparently. Happened to me yesterday - on my third disconnect in a row, my nodes immediately went from 15 to 0, so I suspect the game doesn't care whether it's your or the host that disconnects.
They also reset your nodes in case your connection itself is just janky.
