It will be a lot of exploration and scanning things.
Some people will like it, while others won´t.
It will be just what the devs have always said it will be, flying from planet to planet, looking at stuff and trying to get closer to the core of the system.
That being said, most people will be very disappointed by the game because it was hyped by idiots with what it possibly could be.

However they showed some alien runes with a language that you can learn which could hint at a story. Which could prolong your interest in the game.

The way I see it is they don´t wan´t to make themselves accountable for what they say about things they aren´t a 100% sure will be in the game.
It´s a small studio and a (relatively) big game for them, so things can get complicated for them and they might not have a concrete plan about what will be in the game.
If you were them would you try and market your game as the second coming of jesus, or would you try to be modest while at the same time not trying to make your game sound lamer than it actually is?

From what I've seen it just looks like the entire game is "wow procedural exploration so cool"
That gimmick plus their art style is all they have going for them, there doesn't appear to be any sort of reason to actually play past a few hours.

I think the factions and the lore are one of the few things not procedurally generated in the game.

The story tells you why. You explore ruins of high civilization and shipwrecks to discover the truth about existence and that galaxy. The more you find out the more you see that the answer to those questions is located in the center and on the way to get there.
A game needs some goal. You really don't have to. You can fight in huge spacewars between different factions or accumulate a huge pile of money and resources or you try to find the intelligent species, the developers didn't wanna show in the presentation.
Every 10th planet is habitable and of those 10 habitable planets only one planet has intelligent life.
Should be a fun game.

Not really. Every starsystem has around 3-5 planets so it would take you around 1-3h. Depends how you play. You could just do some GTA NoMansSky and fight the Sentinels for hours.

This game is going to suffer horribly without multiplayer and the devs gave pretty much said it doesn't have it. All the people hyped into this game don't know it doesn't truly have multiplayer so the devs will still get their money back from preorders. Kind of unfortunate really.

Planets are huge but are made of a single biome, if a player spent a few hours before he'll probably have discovered every specie.
