One example i want to give of the game not being competetive because of the hitboxes and the netcode
If you rng a spawn were you get the head on start
If you both drive at the ball in the center
You will reach it at the same time
And then the variable is latency
So the player that lags the most will hit it towards the goal with no way of defending
If you pick a car with a sloped frontand get that spawn and live in brazil its a free goal everytime
How is that competetive?
Its a competetive game by nature because its asking you to win to have fun
But when the structure of the game doesnt hold up despite it being barebones as fuck

Just because it's casual doesn't mean it's bad. In fact it's one of the best casual games I've played.
Rocket League is, in it's simplicity, very well designed and it really shows that these guys knew what they were doing with this game.
No bullshit mechanics, no P2W, no weapons or other unnecessary mechanics that distort the gameplay, just football/soccer with cars and a mix of skill and luck. Nothing else.
It's not the greatest game ever done by any means, but personally it's the only sports game I can have a lot of fun with these days.
