I wouldn't defend Sayaka's actions, but Leon could have totally just stopped and let it go. Instead he walked all the way back to his room, got a tool, broke the door, and killed her. Not sure why Sayaka didn't get out and lock the door after Leon had left, but the point still stands. Leon was a murderer, plain and simple.
