Not sure about 3, but 1/2/Omega do lose a bit from not playing them in order. Nothing too huge, but it just further informs the setting. They're worth it, though. Great games in general, fantastic for mobile. Maybe 5 hours to complete once, but encourage multiple playthroughs because different characters/perspectives to see.

I got chaos rings 2 and thought it was fantastic as far as mobile games go, its been a while but i remember that white short haired chick was the hottest bitch ever. Tried to play 1 after beating 2 but it was incompatible with my phone. How is omega and 3? And do they ever go on sale? I had no problem paying 13 for CR2 but 20 for a phone game seems a little crazy

I kinda' liked the new style they went with. The two earlier Chaos Rings were good, but felt too sickdark tryhard for my tastes.
The protagonist in 3 doesn't feel like as much of an edgelord, and actually comes across as rather angst-free, which I kinda' like.
The only real gripe I had with the game was that I wished there were more options for MC to chose from. Dialog choices should not boil down to:

It's decent, it's got the usual gacha system to get stronger cards but also instead of giving you more stuff as you level has you filling out "Avatar Boards" to increase your HP, stamina and card cost cap as well as cosmetic equips.
Combat is basic, either tap, swipe or special attack, think of a semi-simplified CoM type deal but each mission area is free roam which is refreshing after stuff like Granblue where you don't get much exploration
It's supposedly important to KHIII as well
