Does no one here remember the amount of goodwill created when the first city got leaked?
That shit was amazing how quickly it turned /v/'s perception of a game when they were actually able to get their hands on it.
I'm pretty hyped for the sequel. Here's hoping the devs have taken note. I want to be able to freely go between hubs and do missions in different cities acting like some kind of high-profile international security-guard. Maybe even change it up by adding in some under-the-table assassination/espionage missions too.

I played that demo then bought the game.

It was done pretty well, It felt like they were just showing us the game rather than trying to force it down our throats. Anyone that didn't like it had a chance to express themselves too.

I'm 95% sure they read Deus Ex threads as reference for figuring out how to make Human Revolution work. /v/ is basically the biggest DX fansite in existence. It would be fucking stupid not to use feedback from this place if your job is to make a Deus Ex game.

Just because you can state it, doesn't mean it's accepted. /v/ shits on transexuals, cinematic games I don't even mean story oriented, and others.
>>
>>333572035
Yeah and keep in mind they also had friendly relations with the hardcore Deus Ex fans, The Nameless Mod had then exclusive Screenshots of Human Revolution in it.

I think what definitely played a part in making Human Revolution such a solid game was that they listened to the Deus Ex community and they know why people still obsess over an ugly looking game from 2001. I just hope the hardware of the current consoles allows them to make large levels this time around.
>>
Well it's thousand times better than the god awful piss tint filter.

They went from blue to purple to yellow, just keep changing it to give each game an unique look.

This, its pretty overpowered. but that argument has probably been done to death.

Im excited more for the world/lore in MD rather than the combat mechanics anyway. >>
I'm not really articulate enough to explain this well but I'll give it a try. What I really want to see is more real life logic added to the game. What do I mean? Here's an example. In human revolution there are several ways you can enter the hive. You can of course pay the entrance fee, sneak into the ladies bathroom through a vent or get into the basement from the sewers. The problem was that no matter what option you chose, you could still exit via the front door. The bouncer should know something is up if you never came in but you're coming out. Little moments like this are more important than anything else in creating a believable and immersive world.

One moment where HR came through in this regard was very early in the game where you first come back to Sarif after the attack. If you enter the ladies restroom, Pritchard will reprimand you in a later conversation for being a creepy bastard.
>>
>>333577624

this is unacceptable
>>
>>333570395
They posted the "8.8? Pre-order cancelled" image on their blog before HR came out
>>
>>333578680
Dunno, I don't think a standard bouncer actually remember the face of every loser that comes to a club, that's what club card are there for. Once you are in, going out will only show him the back of your head.
But you are correct about games lacking this kind of logic/memory, mainly becasue there's little point to actually spending days programming it. Bathroom convo always was just an easter egg, not a norm. MAybe it's for the better anyway, I want to play a game, not a real life.
>>
>>333578248
Another problem is that you can't break glass or crush other objects. You can throw them sure but just being able to smash whatever you want with your fists would add a lot of freedom to the gameplay. I think there's ways they could make a freeform melee system work without being overpowered.

Technology in games is still an unexplored area, you know how many games just don't bother with these things. People generally want to shoot and explode things/sneak around choking and interrogating guards instead of watching ice melt faster if you are closer to it. People don't even realize DX has NPCs remember what did you say to them earlier and act on it. Technology like that appeals only to autists like us. But goddamn if it does not make a game just good on entirely different level. MGS is a shining example. All these posts shitting on "movie-ness" of the franchise and yet everyone agrees that when there's gameplay/little secrets that can aid you it's absolutely top tier.

To be fair the main plot point of the original was the merging of man and A.I. and how men were trying to use that singularity to control mankind. You could say HR is just a more primitive version of that same concept. How the Illuminati are seeking to use augmentations to control humanity.

Gotta admit though, HR does not perform terribly on that. Better than nothing, you know? We have people go " I want cyber legs" and then they are living in a ghetto shooting people for the next shot of that miracle drug that makes your body accept augs. If that ain't illuminati controlling stuff nothing is. Then we have Eliza and her connections. It's a shame the story barely expands on those global implications and instead focuses on civillian NPCs and muh megan search. Make Jensen follow a sloppy member of MJ12 instead of a cheating girl, we already see that too much in movies and real life.

The problem with that aug stuff is that it's just not really engaging. It's just another case of have-nots to haves. As the player you can't even suffer from it yourself even though you have augs so even ingame you can't really relate. It's just a bunch of drug addicts but this time there are more of them.

>>333582301
Denton is not special in any way, his upgrades are actually inferior to Simons and he's just a prototype. The manufactured-virus angle makes much more sense than an aug craze, as this way you can efficiently control the whole population instead of just those with augs. You can also use it to enforce martial law etc and thus wrestle complete control.

>>333582543
The manufactured virus was indeed more effective, it was developed decades later and utilized nano-technology, that doesn't automatically make the more primitive schemes in Deus Ex bad writing. Really in HR the control over augmentation was more of a defensive strategy rather than an offensive one. The Illuminati we're seeking to contain it.

Yeah, I'm usually the one to bring that up. In DE there's a grand total of 8 mechanically augmented people and in the prequel every other thug/bum is running around with metal legs. Makes sense, but only in the context of that single game, doesn't if we bring Deus Ex into play.
Also, I think you do get fucked up by the glitch that chinese bitch made.

Denton is special tho, and I believe Simons is conviced JC only has the three starting augs while in reality you fight him with all augmentations you can have on you. I' sure Simons himself has like 5 augs or so.
>you can't beat me, I've seen your specs!
>>
>>333583063
It might make more sense now with the way MD is going. Seems like augmentations are extremely taboo and are looked down on after what happened in HR. No one wants to get augmented anymore. 20 years later and only a small portion of older folk are mechanically augmented.

For the moment. That can change, especially with guys like Sarif not on a leash. But even if that's true its still a problem. There's a lot of millionaires in the world. I really like their art director Jonathan. He's a really cool dude to listen to on their Deus HR commentary. Actually the whole thing is amazing and motivating i need to finish watching it.

This better be an optional mode you can unlock after beating the game

they're trying to be tactful about it because they know we hate forced memery

they wanted us to talk about it without them forcing it
there'll be another thread in 3 days to a week.
and maybe another one 3 days to a week after that where they give up.

What did they mean by this?

The directors cut adds in another level and some guns that were all dlc as well. The level is pretty dog shit but is good story wise in showing how fucked up augmentations in the powerful hands could be, which wasn't ever really there in the original. Also sets up the next game.

This is the most cringeworthy thing I've ever seen. Just release the game and shut up you faggots.
