That stage was terrible, you don't have to engage with 90 percent of the map. There's a bunch of pointless one up gimmicks and other things but the actual progression is just a matter of jumping on blocks.

Devil's Third was a development nightmare, but it was just one game. It's not like he personally oversaw the decline of a franchise.
