I'd break down my neutral game as being good, my execution as average, average reactions, and low-high understanding of the game mechanics, depending on the game (some games I play a lot more than others).
I prefer slower paced games with more emphasis on neutral. I tend to play more aggressive or close range characters, but lately I think I'd prefer a zoning or keepaway character more. I do like lameness.
I don't play fighting games as much as I used to though. In college I had a lot of free time and used to play them a lot, but not so much anymore.

I tend to lose interest but I end up buying every other fighting game that comes out and pretty much winning non-stop for a month or so till I get bored.
The only fighting game I can never get bored of ismeleebecausethe learning curve is a lot steeper than I've ever seen in other fighting games, the movement options are perfect, and each match feels fresh. Even playing the same matchup against two different players is a totally different game at high level.
Meanwhile, in SFV as I get up in the ranks I still find that every match you use the same mindset, mash out the same combos, and start playing on auto pilot as the matches go by. It was fun at first but I'm more or less done with it at this point.

I've been told by good players that i'm intermediate. I don't know where i'd rank myself. I think I know a good amount about the games I play. I know the matchups, frame data, all that. Then as a player I think my execution is above average as I don't have many issues dropping in tense situations, my reactions are lacking a bit, I have a very good understanding of gameplay mechanics. Thing is I don't really travel so I can't consider myself good. I am high ranked ONLINE and beat people ONLINE with ease, but in the scale of things that doesn't mean much.

I used to be amazing at fighting games. I started playing back when SF2 was a thing in the arcades and had to go to to other states to play folks so they wouldn't quit. i joined the military and my first duty station was japan... was so happy cause the best players were there I held my own there and once I got back I quit for a long time... damn SFHD remix came out and I started again. SF4 and 5 have kept me interested now. not nearly as good as I used to be but can hold my own.

There aren't many games i have problem in learning and playing but recently i've been having trouble with SF5, the counter centered gameplay, and many other things the game has, is not really my thing. SAdly it is the only fighting game series people play that doesn't die in a month.

I was pretty good with Soul Calibur 1 and 2, DoA2 or a Marvel vs Capcom 2. But everything else? Mediocre, reasonable or bad, depends of the game. I started late probably around the 2000s but casually, not a common often thing, but just one of those generes I would play once in awhile. As a kid I never had a SF or MK, just played few times on the arcades or friends houses, but the first fighter I owned was Virtua Fighter1.
About fighting games, I don't like to train in the trainings modes, I like to learn while playing, but most fighting games you can't do that, there is no natural progressing. You have to waste many hours training and get good with a character and I will get bored doing that. I like to try other characters, but for example in 2d fighters I am not good with grapple types. But someone that is quick and uses mostly legs I get better at. So, yeah, I am more offensive type with some range, than wait and be defensive, and not defending well leads you to defeats.
Another problem is the damn controllers. The fucking normal controllers are not build for fighting games. I was playing SF3 NG and 2ndi on the dreamcast and playing with this dpad is a pain after a while(the analog stick doesn't work in this, but it does on Capcom vs SNK). Probably if I played with the arcade stick for some months I could get better, but right now I don't want to waste money on that, or other controllers, or for older systems.
Oh, and those final bosses like SNK does, or like Gill on SF3(RESURREACTION), fuck them. This is really the thing that makes me stop playing fighting games for awhile because I am more single player guy and I enjoy doing arcade runs, until that.
