Are you guys ready for VR?
>>
If VR doesn't die off in 2 or 3 years it's going to take like 15 before it gets good enough to justify spending money on so no, not really
>>
It still doesnt have enough interesting games on it to warrant a purchase.
>>
>>333548217
Until the porn is good enough then it's no buy.

He's using the budget smartphone version.
>>
>>333551245
Honestly, the $100 version doesn't seem any worse than the $800 version so they actually make the smarter purchase.

You wish you were a virgin too, huh?
>>
>>333550036

I have one of these.

Honestly, the next time my ass has to fly to Asia, I'm taking these with me and loading up some movies to use in the virtual theater. Fuck being on planes for 15 hours.
>>
>>333551360
M8
I own one of the cheapo smartphone version, use it with my note 4. It's at the very MOST below the Rift, and it's definitely far inferior to the Vive, which is the first ever VR system ever to have roomscale tracking. Which makes a fucking world of difference.

Yes, I have tried all 3.

You're going to drive a virtual Ferrari, not a real Ferrari. The virtual Ferrari will never compare to the real thing.

Well, yea, it will be better.

We'll quickly learn that reality is inferior.

I still don't even know what it does for games?

When I think of VR I think of stuff like Kid Chameleon or VR Troopers, etc. Not strapping a television to my face.

Are their 3rd Person VR games? I can't play 1st Person stuff. How does it make the games different? You're still just using a plain ol' controller right?

I'm honestly really in the dark about all this.
>>
>>333552162
>>333551854
Not to hate on VR but I think the point of owning a Ferrari is largely to show off your status and wealth.
>>

This isn't for you.
>>
>>333551662
How is being in a cinema for 15 hours different to being on a plane for 15 hours?
>>
While VR reaching that point is still a decade or so away seeing people using it in public is like the 'smartphone zombie meme' on steroids.

when I come out of hibernation in two or so years I hope there is some cool Snow Crash/Neuromancer type stuff. As it stands now, just more gimmicky game shit.

Attention whoring to the extreme. Just look at him, he isn't exactly beat women off with a stick, so he;'s out in public with it desperately hoping someone will walk up and strike up a conversation. But, what will happen is people will either flat out ignore him because he's a weirdo, take pics and laugh because he's a weirdo or robbed by a methhead at knife point and he'll sell it for some shards.

Trust me, it is fucking different. Also, some of the virtual theaters are pretty pleasant. The Netflix cinema is basically a nice den with a view of the Rocky Mountains in winter.

The built-in theater app has a few settings. One is a living room, one is a cinema, one is "A Theater for Ants" which is you being really small and outside, and the last one is on the Moon.

It's a plane. I give exactly zero fucks about what those people think of me. After about eight hours everyone on the plane will be wondering where their lives went so very wrong.

Also...

>Thinking that the oxygen masks will do anything for you.
>>
>>333554275

That dude sounds like he's never flown if he thinks the oxygen masks serve any real purpose other than to prevent panic.
