This game left a bad taste in my mouth. Any other good cRPGs you guys can recommend? I already played the other BG's, Torment, Fallout 1/2 and Icewind Dale. Are IWD2 or Neverwinter Nights 1/2 any good?
I don't dislike SoD because of the SJW stuff, but because of the plethora of bugs, the generally questionable and contrived writing, as well as the obscene random difficulty spikes (played on Insane, can't recommend).

One thing you should know is that while both NWN and NWN2 are great in their own way, NWN only lets you control a single character, along with a single AI controlled henchman (plus a summoned monster and familiar/animal companion with certain classes, but those are AI too). It will not give you the party tactics action, but it's still a fun game, and I know some people enjoyed soloing even in BG. Just don't play a warrior or thief character in NWN1, or you'll do nothing but autoattack for the entire game.
NWN2 brings back parties with fully controllable members and it's almost like a 3D graphics BG/IWD game.

I consider myself a somewhat of a power gamer and I hate dual classing. They only become good characters by the end of the game when they have both of their classes, even though the beginning/middle of the game is hardest, and then you have an almost worthless level 1-2 mage when you're supposed to be level 5-6 being deadweight. In my opinion having a worthless character for a good part of the game is the opposite of minmaxing.

They're the same games in terms of plot and setting, but the combat's switched up a bit for the better.
Story-wise you could certainly go from the new 2 to the old 3, 4, 5, 6 - but it would be a weird transition considering its age. All the games have separate stories so you don't even necessarily need to play them in order, but there is an overarching timeline.
