Shirtless Ratchet is the best design though. Remember he's just a mechanic and guys who work on cars always walk around with just shorts or jeans on.
I guess the strap would seem really gay on a human but since he's an Alien it kinda fits him as some utility belt to hold tools I guess.

The remake incorporates a lot of elements and characters from later titles, such as Squishy Nef being Drek's chief engineer, the Galactic Rangers actually doing something, Dallas and Juanita, Megacorp, random civilian Fongoids, etc.
However, the remake is self-contained as a story told by Qwark so you can easily deem it non-canon if it triggers your autism.
