Well the big difference is that MOBA's are easy to pick up and for casuals and for free.
They got popular because they are easy to pick up and quick to learn. Fighting games on the other hand are a different beast. You have to learn fundamentals, execution and most important how to read your opponent. While MOBAs are a big mess with random numbers n shit, in a fighting game you have framedata and you have to get fast with your execution

Fighters are easy to pick up and have fun with too, there's just a bigger dip in the learning curve that involves all the fundamentals, execution, and reading your opponent.
A small factor too, but still a factor, is the fact that it's a one on one game. You can't get carried and you can't blame a team for your fucking up like in MOBAs. It's a humbling genre, really and you'll learn to accept that you need to get better, or ragequit.
I'd say frame data is useful to have on hand, but I wouldn't say EXTREMELY necessary considering you can eyeball most attacks and learn from what works and what doesn't.

There are trannies in every video game genre. Fighting games just expose them more. Obviously you won't notice a tranny playing a single player game. Multiplayer games are often played online, so you wouldn't notice. And getting in a FPS or MOBA tournament is harder, you need a team, sometimes you have to qualify or it's an invitational, tournaments are bigger but don't happen as often. In a fighting game tournament everybody can join, most tournaments don't have a limit or qualifiers or anything, and anybody could appear on stream.

Having gone to multiple tournaments i can say they're pretty friendly and welcoming to new players. I was also a bit of an ass my first time, thinking that's how you can blend in but people just thought i was that, rude and ignorant. Even after this though they still went out of their way to welcome me to tournaments.
I guess the only way you can go to them and say you didnt have a good time was if you were doing that, spouting nonsense about characters or games. If you're going to say some character is broken or bullshit or some mechanic is flawed they expect you to back up what you're saying.
