What would you do if you were a game developer? In my game, at the very end, you would come to a grand staircase which leads to the final boss. With a legit copy, your character goes up and meets the boss. With a pirated copy,your character runs up on all fours like you do when you're alone.

I'd be real subtle, throughout the game characters will pepper their dialogue with verbal abuse, not too much but just enough to make the player wonder if it's part of the story. I'd also make it so the sound mixing is really off, so during important parts of the story the dialogue is lower than the music or certain lines become extremely loud. I'd make stuff like gaining upgrades/levels a much slower process, forcing the player to grind. I'd also add in random jump scares that periodically pop up on the screen.
