Tournaments are filled with new players and is one of the better places to start out because you get to see a wide array of play styles and characters being used from beginners to pros. Combobreaker is one of the smaller tournaments but its a fun place to be.

You generally narrow it down to a few good moves and that number is an illusion. Think of it like this

This is just one move but with extensions so the move lists look bigger than they really are. There are also the throw variations like side and back throws along with those sample and 10 hit combos that you can ignore. In the end it all becomes muscle memory.

You could trim the less desirable moves, throws, reccomended combos down a bit and the command list still left with about 50 or 60 legit moves. That's still a fucking lot per character on a 30+ roster game.

I played it once and was disgusted that attacking was done with the thumbsticks and not the buttons. I gave up after the swimming section and went back to playing Tekken 4.
Eventually i thought maybe i could learn to like it and forced my way through the swimming section and eventually started making progress through the game. I even started to understand the combat.
I got to nighttime portion of the game and then the game asked me to find key cards. I remember the map being shit so i gave up again. Maybe ill try again some other day.
