Following Color Splash's reveal, I took the time to replay the entire Paper Mario series, and I found, to my surprise, that Sticker Star was by far my favorite. The changes made in this game, while frustrating for casual players, are quite rewarding.
Making the game oriented around the field was a great decision, one that I expect will be improved on in Color Splash.

Exactly, but that isn't exactly true either. You see, the coins you earn during battles gets you coins that you can use to buy more powerful stickers that you can't normally find in the field. It's well worth your while to battle enemies, despite the lack of EXP.
That being said, the game is NOT easy, I'm shocked anyone can say this considering it's only real problem is how confusing it can be. There are so many moments where you can't possibly be expected to figure out what you're supposed to be doing.

Paper Mario is more of an 'adventure' game now, while M&L fills the RPG niche.
