You must not be old enough to remember how cringe-worthy the FMVs in Need for Speed are.
Need for Speed has always been cheesy and very arcady. If anything it was the PS2 era from Underground to Carbon that deviated so far from the series in so many ways, which is oddly the standard they are held to currently. That being said, Pro Street and on fucking suck balls. And Burnout Most Wanted was a huge letdown as a NFS game, but still pretty alright, I guess.
I haven't gotten NFS15 and don't plan on it anytime soon. It looks good, but it also looks very by the books and with too much flash and not enough actual substance.
