>walls with no holes
That's a start. But when will you be able to get clean walls not covered in rust and literal shit?

This whole thing about everything looking like complete and utter shit in Bethesda's Fallouts, even newly built stuff, is one of the biggest misses Bethesda made.
>>

I'm waiting on mods until they do the new survival mode patch, apparently it breaks them

Download Homemaker.

It has tons and tons of clean walls and pristine items.
>>

there are several mods that do 99% of what this DLC does, for free, without an official SDK.
It's insulting.
>>
>>333297442
A lot of this(farm pieces, lights, and power armor stands mainly) should've been in the base game.
>>
>>333299941
I can't for the life of me build anything with the new structure types that mod adds, I tried building a greenhouse but like the walls were being weird and it wouldn't connect to the floor

So when are we gonna get one of these for Power Armor? I had hoped Power Armor customization would be a lot more complex. All I want is onboard weapons

The brick and warehouse sets are really janky. The greenhouse is also pretty limited due to the limited number of parts, since the mod maker just lifted the pieces out of the base game and the base game only had a few valid ways to slap them together.

The institute and pier sets work completely fine.

Are you just trolling or do you not even listen to yourself?
It's been literally 200 fucking years. Do you have any idea how much time that is? How do you think the world looked like 200 years ago?

200 years is long enough one full generation to grow up and achieve their whole lives work. Birth yet another generation who also has time to grow up and achieve their whole lives worth. And for that generation to live to the end of their days, and long enough to not even have any idea what the generations before them looked like.
>>
>>333305048
>It's been literally 200 fucking years. Do you have any idea how much time that is? How do you think the world looked like 200 years ago?
While what you're saying is true, Obsidian did the same thing with NV. It's plausible by Obsidian standards.

Yes, it IS enough time for that to happen, but it fucking didn't happen. How many construction companies do you see in the common wealth? How many cement mixers and active factories are there? None. People are building shit out of random junk because that's what they've got on hand. Just because enough time has passed for industry to get restarted doesn't mean it HAS restarted.
>>
Fallout 4's settlement crafting is so clumsy and terribly made I can't believe anyone actually spent the time to make anything with it.

Like yeah, it works, but goddamn it's not slick at all. What it should take to make something in about 20 minutes takes hours because of auto-snap and inability to slightly clip.

Yeah, the fuck, you've never played any forged maps in Halo since it's been introduced? Clipping items into each other is a necessity when crafting in games like this. It doesn't mean you make things clip and look janky, it means you clip things to fix them from looking rigid and janky.

I don't think the GECK is coming at all soon. Bethesda isn't dumb. If they released it now, it would hinder DLC sales. They know people wouldn't buy the DLC when they know mods do it better. Mods have always been a necessary "evil" to them. They hate them but know they can't live without them. Look at the paid mods scandal. It's obvious why they are delaying the mod tools. Short answer: It's a post apocalyptic game and it goes with the look of post apocalypse. Both Bethesda and Obsidian are 100% guilty of this.

The leveling system is objectively the best ever.

Where were you when fallout was turned from a relatively good roleplaying game to a sandbox crafting game?
A bad one at that.

Anyone just dislike the crafting because everything is so square?
It just does look like a real settlement and it stands out the the environment too much. Looks like a minecraft house in the middle of a realistic landscape.

Because during the lifetime of Oblivion, F3 and Skyrim, Todd realized they can get away with selling pretty much any kind of mod. It sells like hotcakes anyway, he basically said as much.

>Do people actually give a damn about the settlements and building in F4
I tried my best to give a fuck, but after being completely annoyed by fucking preston, the best I could do was go through the motions of building the necessary shit to connect my supply line instead of working on building homes.

There's just no reason. I wanted to have everyone armed and armored, but the entire armor piece system makes it far too annoying to gather 6 clothing pieces for everyone plus a weapon and ammo instead of the single suit weapon and ammo i'd give people in NV.

If there were a mod to fully develop and populate each settlement, if i were to do a second playthrough, i'd download it in an instant. Way too much effort to occasionally save myself the time of fast traveling to the first settlement.

Bethesda marketed these settlements as areas that would grown and become populated by NPCs that would make the cobbled together areas into a town. Instead they're all filled with people who can't do anything themselves and the same pool of settlers to mill about until they need you to stop what the 10 laser cannons i build apparently cant.

I wish I'd never wasted the time I did with the settlements at all, but a completionist drive compelled me. I needed the stupid supply line and artillery that I never used.
>>
>>333297442
I guess RP'rs can pretend to become raiders now. All they'll need is to collect dozens of raider armor pieces and ignore eveyone's stale dialogue.

Seems very boring compared to Automatron.
No interest in resuming the game to check it out.

Automatron was fantastic, but this looks bland.

Traps might be fun, but its going to be absurdly rare that they have a chance to actually do anything. Most NPCs just fire from range and won't get close unless your entire population die anyways.
>>
>capturing stuff
>traps

For what fucking purpose? Settlements never get attacked when you're there so you'll never see them used, and even if they DID get attacked I'm guessing its a billion times more effective and faster to just shoot the bastards with a gun.

Even less can be done about the perk chart than with the ridiculous spinning constellation bullshit in Skyrim, thanks to it being an entirely 2D board instead of points which could be moved around and branched to and from each other.

At best, the less useful and outright useless perks like Life Giver and VANS could get more ranks and better effects

The existing mod to change vague prompts into what your character will actually say is as good as dialogue is going to get.
>>
>>333317094

They don't do damage to settlers.
Even if they did, the settlers don't actually die.

>>
>>333299165
It would be nice if they were planning a large quest line that deals with this. Maybe you rebuild and fix a manufacturing plant that creates pristine \ clean walls that you can use to build stuff with.

It would probably be something like clearing out a discovered plant, furbishing it with automatrons, collecting parts to fix it up and having a large number of settlements with a large number of happy population.

If they don't do something like that they would be retarded.
>>
I don't understand why they're starting their DLC lineup with this weak shit. This and the Mechanist were pretty much the same level as Hearthfire, content wise. You'd think they'd want to lead off with a significant sized DLC like Point Lookout or Shivering Isles sized.

I don't play the game anymore but I can't imagine anyone who bought the season pass is happy that this shit has eaten up the first two slots of it.

I'd disagree.
Automatron was a proper DLC.

It added more enemies to the world in general, in addition to a fairly reasonably length quest line (for $10 DLC).
Building robots is also a brand new addition, where as this is more bits for a system we already had.

I guess traps and capturing animals is still new, but that is nothing compared to building robots.

I really liked Automatron, and I feel like it did DLC right. I liked how it added shit to the world, instead of just taking place in its own closed zone which is the only place you see any new enemies.

>>
>>333317394

This isn't a skill book though, it's a magazine. And there were ACTUAL perks in previous fallouts that did nothing but add points to a skill or flat buffs.

Skill books in F4 add perk ranks which in turn can add a variety off effects.

I was trying to make a simple point, apparently flew over your head.
The reason it's just a 5% reduction is that mags give you bonus perks. They can't be that strong because they're outside the perk system, so they'd become extremely unbalanced otherwise. It's fucking stupid to whine about the originality or lack thereof of a bonus collection perk, especially when, as I mentioned, ACTUAL perks in the old fallouts did nothing but add flat buffs or skill points.
