"Buy VR today, it's just like a second job!"

---Valve
>>
I'll buy VR stuff in like 5 years or so, when it becomes a lot more commonplace, improved, and cheaper.
>>
>>333280397
>i wish i had money to afford vive
>>
>>333280397
I hope there's enough faggots buying this, so devs will start noticing it.
Hopefully then, in a few years, here will be a VR set worth buying, and actual games for it.

But I expect it to fail miserably instead.
>>
>But driving a truck is a job, why would anyone play __ Truck Simulator
-Miserable people
>>
>>333280397
"I've made my conclusions solely based on that game's title!" - anon

Job simulator's about robots in the future trying to reconstruct what jobs looked like when humanity still ruled the earth - with comedic misinterpretations at the core of it.
>>
But fighting in wars and shooting guns is a soldier's job, why would I want to play a videogame where I do someone's job!?!???
>>
>>333281039
Same. People who buy into it now are just wasting money.
>>
>>333282339

Sorry anon, it's not a movie. How does it play? Like papers please? Please faggot.

>>
>>333282770
you're right. we need unintelligent people to throw money at new ideas so the non-retarded can buy the better, cheaper, more widely-supported iteration.
>>
>>333282979
It's okay to not have the money to burn on getting the the new stuff you want anon, nobody's going to make fun of you for waiting until you can afford it
>>
I just want a cheap open VR headset I can use for flying sims. I don't want all that motion crap.
>>
>>333282979
Have you gotten a TV yet anon? They keep getting better and better you know.

Are you going to wait another 30 years for the better, cheaper, more widely-supported iteration?

Oh ok anon. Good luck.
>>
>>333282902
Why buy a 980 right now when I can wait 5 years and get one for under a hundred bucks?
>>
>>333283130
it's like buying a sony console on launch day. By the time there are enough games to be worth it, they've already come out with a new version of the system.

What they don't tell you is that you are actually working in their virtual office and performing menial tasks for them for free.
>>
>>333283447
>By the time there are enough games to be worth it

If you aren't a poorfag, that's 1 (ONE) game.

And joking aside, that's nowhere near when they are going to release a new system.
>>
>>333282760
Like 4 different paper please like games except 3D and with weird interactions.

Stuff like the office worker level asking you to sort through a filing cabinet and pick out new employees from their CVs.
>>
>>333283447
It's okay, you can save if you want to, but some people just have the money and want to buy the thing now regardless of whether or not you would find it a "sound financial decision"

I got to mess around with the Oculus for a while, plus got the free Gear VR with my S7 and I was impressed by how well VR works as a concept, and it works with my horrible eyesight, with no glasses on (have keratoconus). But I don't see anyone buying them, no matter how well they work if it costs $800 and there's no games to play on it. If the damn thing is going to cost $800, it should come with a bundle of games worth playing, not some garbage shit no one is gonna play for more than 5 minutes. If we start seeing some well-developed and immersive RPGs, I may consider it but I can't imagine this thing is gonna do well right now.

t. bootyblasted retard

Plenty of people were aware of 4k displays being overpriced and waited until they became cheaper, and they are cheaper.
>>
>>333289951
There's a difference between something being actually overpriced and useless and something actually having worth anon.

This is not the same. Games such as half life 2 could have been played with the development kit, and even then they were good. The difference between HL2 with and without the Occulus is like night and day.

You really are retarded. Comparing a new product like VR to television, something that has been around for a long is idiotic. It would be closer to compare waiting when TV went flat screen, or when we left DVDs behind. In both cases it was smart to wait.

Again, this is why your poor, learn to save and make good decisions.

When I can play an actually good game instead of a bunch of tech demos then maybe.

Like this doesn't make playing shit like Dragon Quest or games I like any more exciting/fun so I think $800 is a bit much.

There are already games that are worthwhile out. You're just too much of a poorfag/casual to give a shit though.

>If you think children have a better grasp of reality than me, then you're clearly retarded. But that was never really in question here.

My nephew knows the difference between fact and opinion, and the value of waiting for something. So yeah, sorry your salty over being less developed then a child.
>>
>>333296672
>virtual boy

Oh yeah, would you look at that. There's another one you yourself just mentioned, and you still think the tech is new.

How shameful, to quote some silly childrens cartoon after all that. Especially since there, empirically, is no such thing as a fact.

I'm more than happy to be an early adopter since I'm a developer but as a consumer? I've used the Vive and there's very little that I want in my VR besides eye tracking-based dynamic resolution and higher resolution panels

The Vive is awesome now, I'll buy it, sell it on eBay a month before the Vive 2 releases, take a $300 hit and buy the new one. Biting the $300 bullet two years down the line for 2 years of VR content is worth it to me

If your spending more than you should on the vive due to it being a big investment then yes you are wasting money, but if your rich and don't care and can afford to spend 800$ while having a high end gaming pc, why the hell not buy it now. Its not like everybody is poor and is selling an arm and a leg to get the money to buy the vive when it releases. Most likely its rich fucks who can afford the price.
