Man I played hundreds of hours of the first two games, finished them, hunted all summons and items, and I dont recall this stage.

in Blight Town you can get turned around 6 times, end up in the bog, lost or end up inside that rotunda thing, lost.
same with Tomb of Giants. you can be turned around 20 times, but you also can't see and it's also vertical.

I hated the hell out of this one, even more than air's rock because at least air's rock had floor panels notifying what floor you were on.

I stumbled through it real fast on my first playthrough. But then again, I was so focused on getting through I completely ignored that one exit in the giant pit that led to the rat king.

Oh man, I think I am having memories of this return.

The Lost Ages was a bit too fucking merciless with the amount of dungeon. Just thinking about going to any of the fucking elemental rocks was a nightmare to be had.

This is why I love Blighttown so much. The moment you understand what's up in this area, you want to get out asap.

Yet the game won't let you, it's not even clear where you're supposed to go, you have to learn this area, you have to manage all the different kinds of enemies. Even if you want to run past everything the game make it sur that you at least take time to learn the path.

One of the best areas in the Souls game, especially because it forces you to rethink your approach, forces you to take your time because danger can come from anywhere, this also goes well with the verticality of the place. It's one of those areas where you can't let your guard down for a second.

From DaS definitely Lost Izalith. I hated Lower Burg too but I don't know if a skippable straight line zone is worth complaining about.

That place was awesome, fuck you. That town sold great weapons so you could just LETS OUT A HOWL your way through, and the actual dungeon wasn't even that long. Plus the statues had neat designs.

The Gutter was a such a joke area compared to the Blightown. Now do I think about it, there are 0 areas in Dark Souls 2 that are complex and good as Blightown and Catacombs. Dark Souls 1 is really the pinnacle of the series.

Earthen Peak

The Gutter is just a boring area. Probably the most boring out of all of FROM's "Poison shithole" areas. It's a punch of wooden planks suspended over nothing. Not a valley like VoD, not a swamp like Blighttown, just a meaningless black pit like it's a super mario 3d world level.

I want to like this game so much. it's so fulfilling when i finally get past a hard area. But seriously why does it have to be so difficult?
Going in blind not knowing where to go, losing all my souls when dying, not being able to get them back because I died again-repeat about 30 times for each new area
I get that Dark souls 3 would lose all its integrity but i don't plan on buying it unless its a bit easier

The entire area was a fucking mess besides the frames.
Fuck the poison swamp that you need to backtrack to the tutorial area to navigate at a normal pace in.
Fuck the infinitly spawning insects that inflict even more poison on you.
Fuck the fact that every other enemy in the swamp isn't hindered in speed in that muck.
FUCK that entire area with the fire keeper's soul and surrounding toxic blowdart enemies.

The only saving grace of that shithole is that it's connected to one of the more interesting optional areas in the game.
Otherwise it gets Master Key'd and skipped in a fucking jiffy.

I still haven't beaten Demon Souls since I've started years ago because I've been part of many data mishaps. :(

Except i knew from reviews of the game that it would get harder so I already had re-thought my approach as soon as i saw how complex the factory was.

You stick to the right and map it out, power through all the enemies and once you complete the objective, forget the rest of the dungeon. Same worked for the monkey dungeon and Mt. itoi
