Why doesn't action anime translate well to games?
Games like xenoverse which did it pretty well are still somewhat boring. Fights just end up being punch stuff until you can use your finisher, or go SSJ and start throwing beams like they are going out of style.
Kind of the same thing as wrestling games where the hype doesn't really translate.

Have an incredibly labyrinthine story mode with dozens of alternate timelines to the point where actually playing through the vanilla storyline is difficult.
Every semi-important to important fight playable with every participant playable, and a unique path for every side winning.
DBZ game multiplayer is fun for five seconds then you decide to put in a real fighting game, so focusing entirely on what we're here for, retarded alternate anime stories, is better.

That game was awesome. Not an enganging single player experience, it was more on the lines of a fighting simulator, literally all of the game was fights. No story no nothing, just fights with some words every now and again.
