I have some issues with rushing providence as a suggestion. It's not wrong, exactly, but the player can get more powerful faster than they can scale.

I agree here. RoR, providence included, really is less about completing levels and getting items asap to avoid the enemies scaling so much as its just playing tactically to acquire a decent item set early. If you achieve that the game really doesnt scale much harder. And given how formulaic Providence its way better to just loop than it is to rush fighting him.

In single player, where you get all the items, sure. In multiplayer, still reasonably likely for that one guy who carries you (hi Metrid!) but it's really not fun for everyone else to watch that one guy for 45 minutes on end.
Better to just watch an epic struggle of a minimally powered player against Providence and end the game in 25 minutes. Gives everyone a fresh start too.
