I used to play TF2 competitively around like 2008-2009 but I found myself not enjoying the game when I did, and that was back when people actually would go "holy shit a girl" when you talked on mic. I started to get real fucking good at Tekken and entered tourneys - began to no longer actually enjoy playing it, same exact shit happened with Blazblue and 3rd Strike for me.
Now, I play Dota and Rocket League a lot (and it fucking astounds me that people play RL seriously) but I've always avoided competitive matches because I know now from experience it ruins my enjoyment of the game. I don't know why, but it does. I'm probably atypical as fuck because I play games in the first place, which isn't normal for women, but that's just my experience with it.

At best there's some truth to the idea that women are on average smarter, but I think the truth is that on average women are just better worker bees than men. They're more cautious thus they make better decisions overall usually. Women are less likely to take dangerous jobs, you can view that as either smart or just a fact of reality. Men take dangerous jobs for a variety of reasons so..
If a substantial portion of women were exceptions to the rule, we'd have female athletes that competed with men, and girls would play competitive games.
But they don't, we school them in everything basically. Even on a non-professional level the average guy is just way better than the average girl at most things except school work at this point.
