They didn't "take away" unique weapons, it's using the F3 unique system. You have to remember that NV essentially didn't happen, this is fallout 3 part 2, and for some reason they won't acknowledge anything NV did past like 2 armors in that mobile game.

I'm still upset about this. Even in 3 I felt compelled to search out every piece of unique weapons/armor and stockpile enough weapons to repair them all and outfit a small army.
Now? Yeah, there are a few uniques (most are shit) scattered around, but guns sell for shit all, money is practically useless, and if you're looking for an effective weapon, it's more about what level your upgrading skills are at rather than what you've found and can keep maintained.

Upgrades mean shit, you can beat any enemy easily with any wounding weapon, I finished the game with a wounding pipe pistol I found in the early game

The one single effect that kind of counts as gimmicky fun is the infinite laser musket that turns into an old timey hand cranked gatling, but it's shit and rare as hell so gg enjoy doing 15% extra damage when the horoscope is sagittarius
