Are you ready for Ron Gilbert to usher in a new era of adventure games
>>333136103
Pretty much the only game I'm hyped for right now.

Looks rad, but why must the release date be so far away.
>>333136879
The development team is small also I blame the Xbone port for delaying the release a bit.
>retro pixel graphics
>pointlessly-obtuse retro interface
>nonsensical adventure game inventory puzzles
>Scully and Mulder
I'm ready for another once-respected creator to put out a bad game.
I hope it's better than his last game

Honestly if you followed the blog posts you'd know that this game is shaping up excellently.

The Cave was a decent 7/10.
Could have been better had it not been developed around a nostalgic and dated "shared family computer" mindset which only meant repetition for those few of us that gave two shits about it.
Pic related is pretty underrated, though in huge part because it and succeeding games came out about a half a decade later than they should have. Third game suffers a bit from Ron's departure though.
Thimbleweed Park is the only kickstarted I've backed. It's pretty much what I expected Broken Age to be. I really, really hope it ends up being good.

Just reading about it bro.

Can't say I like the artstyle.
The game runs too smoothly anyway so it doesn't look like it could have been released in the early 90's either.
Real Monkey Island 3/Monkey Island 6 when?
I hope its similar to Lechucks Revenge. His best game.

When they started developing it they didn't have a decent artist, so they went for Maniac Mansion style. Still, backgrounds now look much better than characters.
>>333143319
What do you mean they didnt have a decent artist? Isn't Gary Winnick THE artist?
>>333142862
Ron Gilbert said he would only make Monkey Island 3 if he owned the rights to the franchise.
And obviously that ain't working with Disney.
>>333136103
>Ron "I regret making Guybrush a straight white male" Gilbert
>who sponsored Broken "3.3 mirrion" Age
>author of The Cave That Nobody Played
The only thing he will usher will be people to their seats.
>>333143575
>Disney could rape Monkey Island at any moment
>>333143820
Are you ready for Elaine Marley Sue and her new black boyfriend Bobo Marley, faggot?
>>333143820
Come on.
Telltale and Lucas Arts already did that with Tales and Escape
Any Zak McKracken fans in here?
>>333142862
Can't say I agree with you.
Really dig the throwback to late 80s/early 90s Lucasfilm games aesthetics and the Twin Peaks/X-Files mood that goes with it. It just fits.
>>333144004
I don't. You'd think with current technology, devs would want to make what they couldn't back in the 90's, instead of restricting themselves to appease the "retro" crowd.
Looks fun. The spoof X-files setting is pretty clever because it make sense as it comes from the early-mid 90s like the latter days of SCUMM adventure games. I hope it's not too difficult though. I've tried to play so many Lucasarts adventure games but I guess I'm dumb and/or frustated easily when I have no idea what to do. A hint system would be cool,
This is actually the reason I liked The Cave: the simplied mechanics mean I was able to figure out the puzzles.

Zak is my favorite anime
>>333144424
Yeah. Like Tim did with 3.3. Everybody sure loved that.
>>333139697
Only problem I had with Deathspank was it got hella repetitive, and then the second game didn't try to break up said tedium with more variety.
You basically just played it to hear his retarded responses to every NPC.
>>333144598
What does that have to do with anything?
>>333144424
Sadly the "retro" crowd is what moves Kickstarter numbers.
>Tim Schafer asks for money to make a ''classic'' Doublefine adventure
>creates a lifeless husk calling itself adventure game
>Ron Gilbert asks for money to make a classic adventure game similar to the original Monkey Island
>product looks like it will be exactly that and nothing more
Well duh
Is there going to be the option of a sane rightclick-verb/inventory system or is he keeping it strictly old school?
>>333144793
Well duh what?
