Completely untrue. Especially since almost all non FF games get distributed and marketed by a secondary company like Nintendo. The game could sell 50,000 copies and SquareEnix would still make money, while Nintendo lost money on it. But even then, TWEWY, Dragon Quest or Bravely Default sold well.

Project Setsuna was greenlit and made by a Square team. The Enix side had nothing to do with it. They work independently of each other. And thank god. Otherwise Dragon Quest would be a dying IP like Final Fantasy if Square employees were in charge.
