But yeah, Conquest's maps are pretty diverse and fun - the dragon points are actually put to really, really good use.
In one map there's a ton of water blocking out the enemies from getting to you and so you can hold chokepoints decently, and then all of a sudden Takumi goes full dick mode, dragon pulse's the water away, and now you have to rethink your entire strategy. Oh, and the map is a "survive for this long without letting them reach these squares" map with fucking ballistas and fire orbs. It's pretty awesome.

The Birthight story is nice, fun and moves fairly fast. It's reasonably lighthearted and just a decent story on a solid game. Gameplay is better than Awakening, Story isn't as engaging.
Conquest's story starts alright then goes directly into the garbage around ch13 and never really recovers. The story is just a hot mess the entire time and is cringe inducing with some of the bullshit contirvances. The end is literally nonsensical unless you've played Birthright and understand what's going on. (Also really sad thatAzura isn't around to save Takumi...). Great gameplay, gripping maps and really interesting objectives though.
Revelations is inbetween in both respects.
Also: Missions you can't save before are fucking garbage bullshit.

I'll never understand the hate Awakening gets for it's story. It's not a masterpiece or PS:T, but it's still a really fun, engaging story with some compelling as hell undertones (especially around the kids). It's fairly tight, everyone's motives make sense, the villains are generally even fairly sympathetic (Grima aside) and there's no real plot holes.
Is it the best story ever? No, but it's clearly not "Fucking Awful."

So speaking of Fates, what the fuck are we meant to make of "Hidden Truths". Everything about it seems to retcon parts of the standard plot to shoehorn Lilith into it and it seems to be set at least a decade before the main story.
In game Lilith is refered to as an Astral Dragon and Corrin notices she's sad when she talks about how the Astral Dragons that owned the "My Castle" realm are all gone now, it's implied those are her friends, family, clan etc. It's Moro that grants her the power to turn human again when she's dying. In Hidden Truths she's the Silent Dragon's daughter and something else entirely, doesn't seem to have any connection at all to the Astral dragons.
In game Corrin rescued her as a child and nursed her back to health, she fell in love with him and stuck around. In Hidden Truths it seems more like she tricked him into looking after her, or something? What's the point of him nursing her back to health if she was gonna look after him anyway?
For Corrin to mistake a dragon for a baby bird he had to have been very young, plus that's the actions of a young child. The game implies they've been together most of the time he's been in Nohr, so probably about 8-10 years. So that means Hidden Truths is set BEFORE then, a fucking long time ago. But that means that Inigo, Owain and Severa have been in this world for at least a Decade+. Especially when Anankaros tells them his blood will last in them for a decade or so.
But what the fuck? There's nothing in game that implies they've been in the world for that long and that'd put them in their late 20's-Early 30's. None of them seem that old, and holy fuck that's sad, thinking about them being pretty much ripped from their home and being stuck working in Nohr for around 10 freaking years. Imagine how their parents would react, them suddenly dissapearing...
Ohwell, at least the thought of them saving the Fell Future was nice.

I disagree, the Gangrel arc told a nice, simple and compact story, but the Children are what made the game. Learning about the ruined future and everything that they've been dealing with was a huge part of what made it so engaging, especially when you consider that MorganHas to literally kill the man who raised her and who gave her literally every memory she still retains...

Why? It made sense. Evil Dragon ruined the world, one of the Gemstones was unrecoverable so the Awakening couldn't be performed. Naga used her power with a partial Awakening to send them back in time to change their fate.
Made perfect sense and was a great reveal when it turns out that all the "Time favours it's original course" was nonsense, and just Validar/Grima fucking with things to keep it on track.
